TL;DR: In this article, the effects of the injection timing, the exhaust gas recirculation rate and the load rate on the combustion and the heat release pattern were studied in a boosted six-cylinder heavy-duty diesel engine.
Abstract: Partially premixed compression ignition in a diesel engine is a combustion mode between diffusion combustion and homogeneous charge compression ignition combustion, the combustion controllability and the emission performances of which are close to those of a homogeneous charge compression ignition combustion engine; the mixing period plays a key role in realizing partially premixed compression ignition, and a long premixed process before combustion is necessary to make the fuel and air mix well. Partially premixed compression ignition combustion in a boosted six-cylinder heavy-duty diesel engine is realized by adjusting the injection timing and the rate of exhaust gas recirculation based on a single injection. The effects of the injection timing, the exhaust gas recirculation rate and the load rate on the combustion and the heat release pattern are studied. The factors which influence the mixing period and the ignition delay and its regularity are researched. Endoscope technology and the two-colour method...

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of higher alcohol/diesel blends on combustion and emission characteristics of a direct-injection diesel engine were analyzed using four test fuels containing 30% by vol. of iso-butanol, n-pentanol and n-hexanol (designated as ISB30, PEN30, HEX30 and OCT30 respectively).

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used three advanced bio-fuels with a low cetane number, viz. dimethyl carbonate (DMC), iso-butanol and n -pentanol with blend-ratios of 15, 38 and 45vol% in diesel, respectively (that corresponds to a uniform oxygen content of 8%) in a single-cylinder DI diesel engine.

TL;DR: In this article, cyclohexanol, a lignin-derived cyclic-oxygenate is tested in a single-cylinder direct-injection agricultural diesel engine as blend component with fossil diesel and an investigation is carried out to evaluate its impact on the engine's combustion, emission and performance characteristics under both naturally aspirated and exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) modes.
