There has been considerable interest in the development of novel compounds with anticonvulsant, antidepressant, analgesic, antiinflammatory, antiplatelet, antimalarial, antimicrobial, antimycobacterial, antitumoral, vasodilator, antiviral and antischistosomiasis activities. Hydrazones possessing an azometine -NHN=CH- proton constitute an important class of compounds for new drug development. Therefore, many researchers have synthesized these compounds as target structures and evaluated their biological activities. These observations have been guiding for the development of new hydrazones that possess varied biological activities.

Thermoelectric generators: A review of applications

Triazole compounds containing three nitrogen atoms in the five-membered aromatic azole ring are readily able to bind with a variety of enzymes and receptors in biological system via diverse non-covalent interactions, and thus display versatile biological activities. The related researches in triazole-based derivatives as medicinal drugs have been an extremely active topic, and numerous excellent achievements have been acquired. Noticeably, a large number of triazole compounds as clinical drugs or candidates have been frequently employed for the treatment of various types of diseases, which have shown their large development value and wide potential as medicinal agents. This work systematically reviewed the recent researches and developments of the whole range of triazole compounds as medicinal drugs, including antifungal, anticancer, antibacterial, antitubercular, antiviral, anti-inflammatory and analgesic, anticonvulsant, antiparasitic, antidiabetic, anti-obesitic, antihistaminic, anti-neuropathic, antihypertensive as well as other biological activities. The perspectives of the foreseeable future in the research and development of triazole-based compounds as medicinal drugs are also presented. It is hoped that this review will serve as a stimulant for new thoughts in the quest for rational designs of more active and less toxic triazole medicinal drugs.

The compound 3-(2-Mercaptopyridine)phthalonitrile has been synthesized and characterized by IR, UV-vis, and X-ray single-crystal determination The molecular geometry from X-ray determination of the title compound in the ground state has been compared using the Hartree-Fock (HF) and density functional theory (DFT) with the 6-31G(d) basis set The calculated results show that the DFT and HF can well reproduce the structure of the title compound The energetic behavior of the title compound in solvent media was examined using the B3LYP method with the 6-31G(d) basis set by applying the Onsager and polarizable continuum model Using the TD-DFT and TD-HF methods, electronic absorption spectra of the title compound have been predicted and good agreement with the TD-DFT method and the experimental determination was found The predicted nonlinear optical properties of the title compound are much greater than those of urea Besides, molecular electrostatic potential of the title compound were investigated by theoretical calculations The thermodynamic properties of the compound at different temperatures have been calculated and corresponding relations between the properties and temperature have also been obtained

The triazole compound 4-(3-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)propyl)-5-methyl-2H-1,2,4-triazol-3(4H)-one monohydrate has been synthesised and characterised by 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, IR, and X-ray single-crystal determination. The compound crystallizes in the triclinic space group with a = 9.0366(7) A, b = 11.5690(8) A, c = 12.0571(9) A, α = 110.733(6)°, β = 94.172(6)°, γ = 98.085(6)° and Z = 4. In addition to the molecular geometry from X-ray determination, the molecular geometry, vibrational frequencies and gauge, including atomic orbital (GIAO) 1H- and 13C-NMR chemical shift values of the title compound in the ground state, were calculated using the density functional method (B3LYP) with the 6-31G(d) basis set. The calculated results show that the optimised geometries can well reproduce the crystal structure, and the theoretical vibrational frequencies and chemical shift values show good agreement with experimental values. An experimental and DFT computational study on 4-(3-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)propyl)-5-methyl-2H-1,2,4-triazol-3(4H)-one monohydrate

The Schiff base compound, N-n-Decyl-2-oxo-5-nitro-1-benzylidene-methylamine, has been -synthesized and characterized by IR, electronic spectroscopy, and X-ray single-crystal determination. Molecular geometry from X-ray experiment of the title compound in the ground state have been compared using the Hartree-Fock (HF) and density functional method (B3LYP) with 6-31G(d) basis set. Calculated results show that density functional theory (DFT) at B3LYP/6-31G(d) level can well reproduce the structure of the title compound. To investigate the solvent effect for the atomic charge distributions of the title compound, self-consistent reaction field theory with Onsager reaction field model was used. In addition, DFT calculations of the title compound, molecular electrostatic potential and thermodynamic properties were performed at B3LYP/6-31G(d) level of theory.
