LTE-Advanced는 IMT-Advanced 표준의 유력한 후보 중 하나로 사업자들의 폭넓은 지지를 받고 있다. 이에 본 고에서는 3GPP에서 추진하고 있는 LTE 표준 기술과 LTE-Advanced 표준화 동향을 살펴보고자 한다.
