Journal ArticleDOI

Microplastics release phthalate esters and cause aggravated adverse effects in the mouse gut.

TL;DR: Gut microbiota analysis found that the combined exposure of MPs and DEHP also caused alterations in gut microbiota composition, especially some energy metabolism and immune function related bacteria were significantly changed in the relative abundance.
Journal ArticleDOI

Enhanced reproductive toxicities induced by phthalates contaminated microplastics in male mice (Mus musculus).

TL;DR: Compared with virgin MPs and PAEs alone, PAE-contaminated MPs induced enhanced reproductive toxicities manifested by greater alterations in sperm physiology and spermatogenesis, which provide valuable insights into the mechanism of combined toxicity of MPs and other pollutants.
Journal ArticleDOI

A review of environmental metabolism disrupting chemicals and effect biomarkers associating disease risks: Where exposomics meets metabolomics.

TL;DR: In this article, a comprehensive review of metabolic biomarkers associated with environmental exposure and effect was presented, focusing on metabolic disorders such as diabetes and obesity, which can be influenced by the exposure to contaminants such as endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs), along with genetic and lifestyle factors.
Journal ArticleDOI

DEHP and DINP Induce Tissue- and Gender-Specific Disturbances in Fatty Acid and Lipidomic Profiles in Neonatal Mice: A Comparative Study

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that exposure of neonatal mice to DEHP and DINP at a daily dose of 0.048 or 4.8 mg/kg from postnatal day 0 (PND0) to PND21 caused non-monotonic, as well as tissue- and gender-specific, alterations of total fatty acid compositions in plasma, heart and adipose tissues.
