Alda-1 Attenuates Lung Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury by Reducing 4-Hydroxy-2-Nonenal in Alveolar Epithelial Cells.

TL;DR: This study indicates that the accumulation of 4-hydroxy-2-nonenal plays an important role in lung ischemia-reperfusion injury and Alda-1 pretreatment has clinical implications to protect lungs during cardiopulmonary bypass.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of Prophylactic Levosimendan on All-Cause Mortality in Pediatric Patients Undergoing Cardiac Surgery-An Updated Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

TL;DR: Compared with other inotropes and placebo, perioperative prophylactic administration of levosimendan did not decrease the rates of mortality and AKI and shorten the time of mechanical ventilation and ICU stay but demonstrated a significant reduction in LCOS incidence after corrective surgery in pediatric patients for CHD.
Journal ArticleDOI

Efficacy and Safety of Remimazolam in Endoscopic Sedation-A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

TL;DR: In this paper, a systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted to investigate the efficacy and safety of remimazolam in clinical endoscopic procedure sedation, and the results demonstrated that the drug had a strong sedative effect, and its sedative efficiency was significantly higher than that of placebo [OR = 0.01, 95% CI: (0.08, 0.21), I2 = 0%, p < 0.00001] but lesser than those of propofol.
Journal ArticleDOI

Gender Differences and Postoperative Delirium in Adult Patients Undergoing Cardiac Valve Surgery

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of gender differences on postoperative delirium (POD) occurrence in adult patients after cardiac valve surgery was investigated, and a multivariate logistic regression with odds ratio and 95% confidence interval (CI) was used to identify the independent risk factors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Perioperative Corticosteroid Therapy in Children Undergoing Cardiac Surgery: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

TL;DR: Perioperative corticosteroids to attenuate the inflammatory response are not supported by available evidence from this study and might increase the blood glucose and episodes of insulin therapy.
