Journal ArticleDOI
In-field degradation of soil-biodegradable plastic mulch films in a Mediterranean climate.
Deirdre E. Griffin-LaHue,Shuresh Ghimire,Yingxue Yu,Edward Scheenstra,Carol A. Miles,Markus Flury +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the in-field degradation of soil-biodegradable plastic mulches following successive applications and incorporation, and quantifying mulch recovery 2 years after the final incorporation was quantified every 6 months until fall 2020.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fucose-containing bacterial exopolysaccharides: Sources, biological activities, and food applications
Mengshi Xiao,Xinmiao Ren,Yingxue Yu,Wei Gao,Changliang Zhu,Hanmei Sun,Qing Kong,Xiaodan Fu,Haijin Mou +8 more
TL;DR: Fucose-containing bacterial exopolysaccharide (FcEPS) is a prospective source of fucose, FCOs, and FCPs as mentioned in this paper .
Journal ArticleDOI
How to take representative samples to quantify microplastic particles in soil
Yingxue Yu,Markus Flury +1 more
TL;DR: It is recommended to take replicated samples with each sample as large as possible rather than multiple small cores, and then reduce the soil volume by the quartering method, to ensure an accurate measurement of plastic concentrations.
Are micro- and nanoplastics from soil-biodegradable plastic mulches an environmental concern?
TL;DR: In this article, the authors argue that micro-and nanoplastics generated from soil-biodegradable plastic mulches will likely not cause environmental harm if the mulches are disposed of appropriately into soil or compost.
