Early allopolyploid evolution in the post-Neolithic Brassica napus oilseed genome

Boulos Chalhoub, +86 more
- 22 Aug 2014 -
TL;DR: The polyploid genome of Brassica napus, which originated from a recent combination of two distinct genomes approximately 7500 years ago and gave rise to the crops of rape oilseed, is sequenced.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Brassica oleracea genome reveals the asymmetrical evolution of polyploid genomes

Shengyi Liu, +84 more
TL;DR: A draft genome sequence of Brassica oleracea is described, comparing it with that of its sister species B. rapa to reveal numerous chromosome rearrangements and asymmetrical gene loss in duplicated genomic blocks.
Journal ArticleDOI

Expression of the plant cyclin‐dependent kinase inhibitor ICK1 affects cell division, plant growth and morphology

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that ICK1 acts as a CDK inhibitor in the plant, and the inhibition of cell division byICK1 expression has profound effects on plant growth and development, and it is suggested that alterations of plant organ shape can be achieved by restriction ofcell division.
Journal ArticleDOI

A genome-wide association study reveals novel elite allelic variations in seed oil content of Brassica napus.

TL;DR: A set of additive loci for seed oil content were identified using association mapping and one of the novel loci on the chromosome A5 was validated by linkage mapping, and a novel locus on the chromosomes A5 that could increase 1.5–1.7 % of seedOil content was validated in an independent bi-parental linkage population.
