TL;DR: This article found that Chinese and Americans judged their performance more negatively in the large (vs. small) audience, but Americans were not, and the audience size effect on self-judgments was mediated by how the Chinese perceived others to judge their performance.

Darling, Come Lay with Me or Talk with Me: Perceived Mattering and the Complementary Association between Sex and Communication within Marital Relationships

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors examined whether frequent sex and communication can compensate for the other in predicting marital satisfaction by sustaining the sense of mattering between spouses, and the results of the moderated mediation analyses supported the hypothesis that sexual frequency and communication quantity can moderate the effects of the other on marital satisfaction.
