Vasorelaxant effects of purified green tea epicatechin derivatives in rat mesenteric artery.

TL;DR: The present results suggest that epicatechin derivatives from green tea leaves relaxed rat mesenteric arteries probably by inhibiting Ca2+ influx and the protein kinase C-dependent contractile pathway and intracellular Ca2+, and may not be involved.
Journal ArticleDOI

H2S Inhibits Hyperglycemia-Induced Intrarenal Renin-Angiotensin System Activation via Attenuation of Reactive Oxygen Species Generation

TL;DR: Data suggested that the decrease in H2S under hyperglycemic condition leads to an imbalance between oxidative and reductive species, which, in turn, contributes to the pathogenesis of renal dysfunction.
Journal ArticleDOI

Composition Tuning the Upconversion Emission in NaYF4:Yb/ Tm Hexaplate Nanocrystals

TL;DR: These studies demonstrate a rational approach for fine tuning the upconversion properties in rare-earth doped nanostructures and can broadly impact areas ranging from energy harvesting, energy conversion to biomedical imaging and therapeutics.
Journal ArticleDOI

Characterization of volatile organic compounds at a roadside environment in Hong Kong: An investigation of influences after air pollution control strategies

TL;DR: In this paper, four characterization campaigns were conducted at a representative urban roadside environment in Hong Kong between May 2011 and February 2012, and the results demonstrated the effectiveness of the switch from diesel to LPG-fueled engine for taxis and mini-buses implemented by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government between the recent ten years.
