Thermal conductivity of carbon nanotubes and their polymer nanocomposites: A review

TL;DR: In this article, the status of worldwide research in the thermal conductivity of carbon nanotubes and their polymer nanocomposites is reviewed, as well as the relationship between thermal conductivities and the micro- and nano-structure of the composites.
Journal ArticleDOI

Intumescence: Tradition versus novelty. A comprehensive review

TL;DR: The main concepts of intumescence are reviewed in this article, highlighting the novelties as well as the most significant results achieved in the flame retardancy of polymeric materials in the last 10-15 years.
Book ChapterDOI

Organosilicon Compounds as Polymer Fire RetardantsPolymer Green Flame Retardants

TL;DR: The use of organosilicon compounds as fire retardants in polymers is one of the promising ways to overcome health, safety, and availability concerns of traditional halogenated fire-retardants as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of Modified Layered Double Hydroxides on the Thermal Degradation and Combustion Behaviors of Intumescent Flame Retardant Polyethylene Nanocomposites

TL;DR: In this article , the flame retardancy of layered double hydroxides (LDHs) correlates with their structure and dispersion in a polymeric matrix, and a 2-carboxy ethyl (phenyl) phosphinic acid (CEPPA) was adopted as a flame retardant modifier to prepare CEPPA-intercalated LDH (CLDH) by the regeneration method, which was then exfoliated in PE by melt blending in the form of a masterbatch prepared from solution mixing.
