Journal ArticleDOI
Isolation of Exosomes from Blood Plasma: Qualitative and Quantitative Comparison of Ultracentrifugation and Size Exclusion Chromatography Methods.
Tamás Baranyai,Kata Herczeg,Zsófia Onódi,István Voszka,Károly Módos,Nikolett Marton,György Nagy,Imre Mäger,Imre Mäger,Matthew J.A. Wood,Samir El Andaloussi,Samir El Andaloussi,Zoltán Pálinkás,Vikas Kumar,Péter Nagy,Ágnes Kittel,Edit I. Buzás,Péter Ferdinandy,Zoltán Giricz +18 more
TL;DR: It is shown that it is feasible to isolate exosomes from blood plasma by SEC without significant albumin contamination albeit with low vesicle yield.
Journal ArticleDOI
Polysulfides Link H2S to Protein Thiol Oxidation
Romy Greiner,Zoltán Pálinkás,Katrin Bäsell,Dörte Becher,Haike Antelmann,Péter Nagy,Tobias P. Dick +6 more
TL;DR: This study suggests that the effects that have been attributed to H2S in previous reports may in fact have been mediated by polysulfides, and supports the notion that sulfane sulfur rather than sulfide is the actual in vivo agent of H 2S signaling.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chemical aspects of hydrogen sulfide measurements in physiological samples.
TL;DR: An overview of fundamental thermodynamic and kinetic features of sulfide redox- and coordination-chemical reactions and protonation equilibria in relation to its biological functions is provided and a rigorous chemical approach is proposed to aid the reconciliation of the increasing number of controversies in sulfide biology.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interactions of hydrogen sulfide with myeloperoxidase.
Zoltán Pálinkás,Paul G. Furtmüller,Attila Nagy,Christa Jakopitsch,Katharina F. Pirker,Marcin Magierowski,Katarzyna Jasnos,John L. Wallace,Christian Obinger,Péter Nagy +9 more
TL;DR: To elucidate the roles of sulfide in inflammation, its interactions with human myeloperoxidase (MPO) are investigated, a major contributor to inflammatory oxidative stress.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hydrogen Sulfide Abrogates Hemoglobin-Lipid Interaction in Atherosclerotic Lesion
László Potor,László Potor,Péter Nagy,Gábor Méhes,Zoltán Hendrik,Zoltán Hendrik,Viktória Jeney,Dávid Pethő,Anita Vasas,Zoltán Pálinkás,Enikő Balogh,Ágnes Gyetvai,Matthew Whiteman,Roberta Torregrossa,Mark E. Wood,Sándor Olvasztó,György Balla,György Balla,József Balla +18 more
TL;DR: H2S represents an atheroprotective pathway for removing or limiting the formation of oxidized Hb and lipid derivatives in the atherosclerotic plaque, providing a novel function as a heme-redox-intermediate-scavenging antioxidant.
