TL;DR: A Multi-Parametric Toolbox (MPT) for computing optimal or suboptimal feedback controllers for constrained linear and piecewise affine systems is under development at ETH.
Abstract: A Multi-Parametric Toolbox (MPT) for computing optimal or suboptimal feedback controllers for constrained linear and piecewise affine systems is under development at ETH The toolbox offers a broad spectrum of algorithms compiled in a user friendly and accessible format: starting from different performance objectives (linear, quadratic, minimum time) to the handling of systems with persistent additive disturbances and polytopic uncertainties The algorithms included in the toolbox are a collection of results from recent publications in the field of constrained optimal control of linear and piecewise affine systems [10,13,4,9,16,17,15,14,7]

TL;DR: This paper presents a novel methodology for safety verification of hybrid systems by proving that all trajectories of a hybrid system do not enter an unsafe region using a function of state termed a barrier certificate.
Abstract: This paper presents a novel methodology for safety verification of hybrid systems. For proving that all trajectories of a hybrid system do not enter an unsafe region, the proposed method uses a function of state termed a barrier certificate. The zero level set of a barrier certificate separates the unsafe region from all possible trajectories starting from a given set of initial conditions, hence providing an exact proof of system safety. No explicit computation of reachable sets is required in the construction of barrier certificates, which makes nonlinearity, uncertainty, and constraints can be handled directly within this framework. The method is also computationally tractable, since barrier certificates can be constructed using the sum of squares decomposition and semidefinite programming. Some examples are provided to illustrate the use of the method.

TL;DR: The proposed techniques, combined with calculation of external and internal approximations for intersections of ellipsoids, provide an approach to reachability problems for hybrid systems.
Abstract: This report describes the calculation of the reach sets and tubes for linear control systems with time-varying coefficients and hard bounds on the controls through tight external and internal ellipsoidal approximations. These approximating tubes touch the reach tubes from outside and inside respectively at every point of their boundary so that the surface of the reach tube is totally covered by curves that belong to the approximating tubes. The proposed approximation scheme induces a very small computational burden compared with other methods of reach set calculation. In particular such approximations may be expressed through ordinary differential equations with coefficients given in explicit analytical form. This yields exact parametric representation of reach tubes through families of external and internal ellipsoidal tubes. The proposed techniques, combined with calculation of external and internal approximations for intersections of ellipsoids, provide an approach to reachability problems for hybrid systems.

TL;DR: An experimental system called d/dt for approximating reachable states for hybrid systems whose continuous dynamics is defined by linear differential equations using an approximation algorithm whose accumulation of errors during the continuous evolution is much smaller than in previously-used methods.
Abstract: In this paper we describe an experimental system called d/dt for approximating reachable states for hybrid systems whose continuous dynamics is defined by linear differential equations. We use an approximation algorithm whose accumulation of errors during the continuous evolution is much smaller than in previously-used methods. The d/dt system can, so far, treat non-trivial continuous systems, hybrid systems, convex differential inclusions and controller synthesis problems.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors consider the minimum-cost reachability problem for timed automata and propose an algorithmic solution based on a combination of branch-and-bound techniques and a new notion of priced regions.
Abstract: This paper introduces the model of linearly priced timed automata as an extension of timed automata, with prices on both transitions and locations. For this model we consider the minimum-cost reachability problem: i.e. given a linearly priced timed automaton and a target state, determine the minimum cost of executions from the initial state to the target state. This problem generalizes the minimum-time reachability problem for ordinary timed automata. We prove decidability of this problem by offering an algorithmic solution, which is based on a combination of branch-and-bound techniques and a new notion of priced regions. The latter allows symbolic representation and manipulation of reachable states together with the cost of reaching them.
