TL;DR: Pedestrian Dead Reckoning (PDR), which is a pedestrian positioning technique using the accelerometer sensor to recognize pattern of steps, is an alternative method that has advantages in terms of infrastructure-independent and the variation of walking pattern will make some difficulties for the system to detect displacement.
Abstract: Nowadays, personal positioning systems are more necessary to build many location-based services. Pedestrian Dead Reckoning (PDR), which is a pedestrian positioning technique using the accelerometer sensor to recognize pattern of steps, is an alternative method that has advantages in terms of infrastructure-independent. However, the variation of walking pattern on each individual will make some difficulties for the system to detect displacement. This is really interested authors to develop a sensor-based positioning system that applied generally to all individuals. In the test, 15 test subjects was taken with the distance of each 10m, 20m and 30m. Experiment begins with the feasibility test of accelerometer sensor. In this work, a smartphone with average sampling rate 63.79 Hz and standard deviation of 1.293 is used to records the acceleration. Then, the acceleration data are analyzed to detect step and to estimate the travelled distance using several methods. Detection of steps are able to make an average error of 2.925%, while the most nearly correct displacement estimation is using Scarlet experimental method which is make a distance average error of 1.39metres at all the traveled distance.

TL;DR: It was found that the aviation industry has embraced UAV technology more than the spatial industry in a commercial sense and it is found that a lot of advantages and potential technology for the surveying and spatial industry are found.
Abstract: It is to investigate the concept of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) based mapping and exposes the current system developments and spatial information industry needs. By exploring the historical concepts and current developments in UAV technology and investigating the use of the technology in various mapping and non-mapping applications and it is found that a lot of advantages and potential technology for the surveying and spatial industry. Information and data has been compiled from research and development projects, presentations, brochures, multimedia documents and field training to accommodate this study. The spatial information industry needs and requirements of UAV mapping by reflecting on completed projects using UAV technology that indicate the benefits of such an approach. The role of the surveyor and spatial scientist is challenged to alter traditional practices with new and inventive technology and methods such as Geographical Information System (GIS) with UAV technology. Typically, it was found that the aviation industry has embraced UAV technology more than the spatial industry in a commercial sense. The actual case is UAV may use digital camera to capture the aerial photographs for productively producing a digital map.

TL;DR: Results from this study found that the system was successfully produced where it was able to control any of the wireless switches at a distance of approximately 25 meter radius from the main controller.
Abstract: This paper describes the Smart Home System for Disabled People via Bluetooth Wireless. Smart home system for disable people is the system called assistive domestics focuses on making it possible for the disabled to motivate them carry out the daily activity, safe and comfortable. However in our research work, we attempt to design the smart home system including the wireless controller via Bluetooth technology. This software application adapt in mobile phone, PDA, mobile computer (Samsung Galaxy Tab) using android's operating system (OS). This software application will control the electrical appliances switches wirelessly (Bluetooth). Results from this study found that the system was successfully produced where it is able to control any of the wireless switches at a distance of approximately 25 meter radius from the main controller. The system is seen potentially be used in hospitals, home care for the elderly and facilities for disabled users.

TL;DR: This paper proposes a mechanism to detect and remove the blackhole and grayhole attacks by maintaining an Extended Data Routing Information (EDRI) Table at each node in addition to the Routing Table of the AODV protocol.
Abstract: A MANET, by definition, comprises of nodes which are mobile. It has a dynamic topology and lacks a central controlling entity. These features along with undefined and unsecure boundaries make its security a very challenging issue. Blackhole and grayhole attacks can in fact seriously compromise the performance of a critical infrastructure like a MANET. In this paper we propose a mechanism to detect and remove the blackhole and grayhole attacks. The solution we are proposing tackles these attacks by maintaining an Extended Data Routing Information (EDRI) Table at each node in addition to the Routing Table of the AODV protocol. The mechanism is capable of detecting a malicious node. It also maintains a history of the node's previous malicious instances to account for the gray behaviour. Refresh packet, Renew Packet, BHID Packet, Further request and Further reply packets are also used in addition to the existing packets (RREQ and RREP). Our technique is capable of finding chain of cooperating malicious nodes which drop a significant fraction of packets.

TL;DR: A combination of image processing technique and OCR to obtain the accurate vehicle plate recognition for vehicle in Malaysia and the development of Graphical User Interface to ease user in recognizing the characters and numbers in the vehicle or license plates is proposed.
Abstract: This paper presents the development of automatic vehicle plate detection system using image processing technique. The famous name for this system is Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR). Automatic vehicle plate detection system is commonly used in field of safety and security systems especially in car parking area. Beside the safety aspect, this system is applied to monitor road traffic such as the speed of vehicle and identification of the vehicle's owner. This system is designed to assist the authorities in identifying the stolen vehicle not only for car but motorcycle as well. In this system, the Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technique was the prominent technique employed by researchers to analyse image of vehicle plate. The limitation of this technique was the incapability of the technique to convert text or data accurately. Besides, the characters, the background and the size of the vehicle plate are varied from one country to other country. Hence, this project proposes a combination of image processing technique and OCR to obtain the accurate vehicle plate recognition for vehicle in Malaysia. The outcome of this study is the system capable to detect characters and numbers of vehicle plate in different backgrounds (black and white) accurately. This study also involves the development of Graphical User Interface (GUI) to ease user in recognizing the characters and numbers in the vehicle or license plates.
