TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a short-range application such as local multipoint distribution system (LMDS), commercial airplane landing system used in low-visibility weather, automobile cruise control system and so on.
Abstract: As millimetre-wave systems are becoming increasingly important in many scientific and military applications, there is an increasing demand of various antennas for communications, radar or sensoring system. This is particular true for the research on short-range application such as local multipoint distribution system (LMDS), commercial airplane landing system used in low-visibility weather, automobile cruise control system and so on. Some recently developed integrated horn antennas showed attractive features in [1][2] for application mentioned above, nevertheless they are too expensive for widespread application.

TL;DR: A technique for increasing the bandwidth of a PQHA by adding a shorted parasitic helix is presented and the new folded printed quadrifilar helical antenna (FPQHA) is designed to achieve 30% of bandwidth in axial-mode.
Abstract: The printed quadrifilar helical antenna (PQHA) represents a very attractive candidate for many applications such as mobile satellite communications, broadcasting satellite systems or global positioning systems, due to hemispherical radiation, circular polarization, good axial ratio, and low cost. Nevertheless, the bandwidth of a conventional PQHA could be insufficient for such applications. Therefore, in this paper, a technique for increasing the bandwidth of a PQHA by adding a shorted parasitic helix is presented. The new folded printed quadrifilar helical antenna (FPQHA) is designed to achieve 30% of bandwidth in axial-mode. Moreover, due to the printed arms on one substrate face, the FPQHA manufacturing is very simple. Measured results are presented to validate the concept

TL;DR: In this article, a brief overview of the surface wave theory (Zenneck and plasmon wave, surface mode and leaky wave) in a uniform approach is given for the simple case of the air-dielectric plane interface.
Abstract: In this paper, we intend to give a brief overview of the surface wave theory (Zenneck and plasmon wave, surface mode and leaky wave) in a uniform approach. The simple case of the air-dielectric plane interface will be studied in order to explain the 3 existing approaches leading to Zenneck and plasmon wave definition. Their link with Brewster's angle and Sommerfeld's poles will be exhibited. The obtained expressions for the propagation vector will be interpreted in order to discuss the interesting properties for both kinds of waves in dielectric case. Then we will study the case of a dielectric-coated perfect-metal plane structure in order to find the equations leading to surface-modes and leaky-wave-modes. These equations will be analyzed to deduce these waves' properties. Comparison between all these waves will be performed.

TL;DR: In this article, a compact millimeter wave massive MIMO dual-band (28/38 GHz) antenna array for future 5G communication systems is proposed, which has a high gain of 12.07 and 13.46 dB, respectively.
Abstract: In this article, a compact millimeter wave massive MIMO dual-band (28/38 GHz) antenna array for future 5G communication systems is proposed. A compact high gain dual-band (28/38) series fed antenna array with size of (13× 20 mm2) is nominated to design the massive MIMO antenna system. The simulated results shows that the impedance bandwidth (S11< −10 dB) is achieved around 28 GHz and 38 GHz with a high gain of 12.07 and 13.46 dB, respectively. The proposed six-sector base station will have 6 sub-sectors (array antennas) each covering a range of 40° and 30° at 28 and 38 GHz, respectively, in azimuth plane (θ).

TL;DR: This paper describes the methods of how to measure and compute statistics based on amplitude and phase pattern measured for a given antenna and a susceptibility analysis of these statistics versus multipath and antenna design parameters is made.
Abstract: Antenna phase center offset (PCO) location and phase center variation (PCV) play an important role in high-precision GNSS ranging applications that use carrier-phase measurements. For ranging systems that use CDMA code-phase measurements, other statistics play a similar role – antenna group delay center offset (GDCO) and group delay variation (GDV). This paper describes the methods of how to measure and compute these statistics based on amplitude and phase pattern measured for a given antenna. A susceptibility analysis of these statistics versus multipath and antenna design parameters is also made. Practical examples on how to deal with undesired movement of PCO or larger variation of PCV is presented as well.
