Abstract: results: Major complications rates in AH (n ¼ 1255, 24%), LH (1679, 32%) and VH (2345, 44%) were 4.0, 4.3 and 2.6%, and total complications rates were 19.2, 15.4 and 11.7%, respectively. Logistic regression showed no statistically significant differences between approaches for any organ injuries or other major complications. Most bladder and bowel injuries (88 and 83%), but not ureter injuries (10%), were recognized intra-operatively. The ureter injury rate was low after LH (0.3%), as it was after other types of hysterectomy. Compared with LH, AH increased the odds of wound infection, and was an independent risk factor for urinary infections and febrile events. Compared with AH, LH and VH both presented a higher risk for pelvic infection; surgically treated equally often regardless of the type of hysterectomy. No differences in complications emerged between LH and VH. Obesity was a risk factor for many infections. Surgical adhesiolysis [odds ratio (OR) 2.41, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.38 –4.21] was the strongest single risk factor for major complications as a whole. Bladder injury was associated with a history of caesarean section (OR 4.01, 95% CI 2.06– 7.83) and with a large uterus ≥500 g (OR 2.88, 95% CI 1.05– 7.90), while bowel injury was associated with adhesiolysis (OR 29.07, 95% CI 7.17– 117.88). conclusions: FINHYST is a large prospective hysterectomy study illustrating actual complications. Whenever possible, hysterectomy should be minimally invasive.

Abstract: This research examines Born Global companies, which are facing tremendous entrepreneurial and managerial challenges related to instant or rapid globalization. A major research problem addressed is whether the strategies and processes of Born Globals differ essentially from those of other firms in respect to globalization and global marketing. Based on a literature analysis, we first examine the concept of Born Globals and then turn to a review of the research dealing with the globalization and marketing strategies of Born Globals. Survey results on 89 Finnish Born Globals from high-tech, high-design, high-service, high-know-how, and high-system business areas are presented. Their domestic stage lasts for an average of only 2.1 years. For conventional companies, the period is ten times longer. Furthermore, Born Globals can be classified on the basis of their development into three preliminary stages (research & development [RD], domestic, and entry) and into four major stages (starting, development, growth, and mature). The study then proceeds to examine the globalization and global marketing strategies of Born Globals through a multiple case study of 30 case companies representing the above development stages. Special attention is paid to the mature Born Globals, which were found to have passed quickly through the conventional internationalization stages, jumped over some stages, and, in some cases, even progressed in reverse order. After this, attention turns to a detailed examination of the challenges identified and their solutions for three particular interest groups: entrepreneurs, government policymakers, and academicians. The implications of the results for entrepreneurs should be of particular importance, as managerial, research and development, sales and marketing, and also financial challenges and solutions are covered in detail. Finally, this research concludes that although many of the Born Global findings deviate from the internationalization behavior of conventional companies, the holistic and company-level stage models still seem to have a high degree of explanatory power for many companies originating in small and open economies (SMOPEC). © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Abstract: Cognitive impairment is a core element shared by a large number of different neurological and neuropsychiatric diseases. Irrespective of their different aetiologies and symptomatologies, most appear to converge at the functional deficiency of the auditory-frontal cortex network of auditory discrimination, which indexes cognitive impairment shared by these abnormalities. This auditory-frontal cortical deficiency, and hence cognitive decline, can now be objectively measured with the mismatch negativity and its magnetic equivalent. The auditory-frontal cortical network involved seems, therefore, to play a pivotal, unifying role in the different abnormalities. It is, however, more likely that the dysfunction that can be detected with the mismatch negativity and its magnetoencephalographic equivalent manifests a more widespread brain disorder, namely, a deficient N -methyl-d-aspartate receptor function, shared by these abnormalities and accounting for most of the cognitive decline. * Abbreviation : MMN : mismatch negativity

Abstract: Peer performance can influence the adoption of financial innovations and investment styles. We present evidence of this type of social influence: recent stock returns that local peers experience influence an individual’s stock market entry decision, particularly in areas with better opportunities for social learning. The likelihood of entry does not decrease as returns fall below zero, consistent with people not talking about decisions that have produced inferior outcomes. Market returns, media coverage, local stocks, omitted local variables, short sales constraints, and stock purchases within households do not seem to explain these results.

Abstract: Rotational transition lines of CO play a major role in molecular radio astronomy as a mass tracer and in particular in the study of star formation and Galactic structure. Although a wealth of data exists for the Galactic plane and some well-known molecular clouds, there is no available high sensitivity all-sky survey of CO emission to date. Such all-sky surveys can be constructed using the Planck HFI data because the three lowest CO rotational transition lines at 115, 230 and 345 GHz significantly contribute to the signal of the 100, 217 and 353 GHz HFI channels, respectively. Two different component separation methods are used to extract the CO maps from Planck HFI data. The maps obtained are then compared to one another and to existing external CO surveys. From these quality checks the best CO maps, in terms of signal to noise ratio and/or residual contamination by other emission, are selected. Three different sets of velocity-integrated CO emission maps are produced with different trade-offs between signal-to-noise, angular resolution, and reliability. Maps for the CO J = 1 → 0, J = 2 → 1, and J = 3 → 2 rotational transitions are presented and described in detail. They are shown to be fully compatible with previous surveys of parts of the Galactic plane as well as with undersampled surveys of the high latitude sky. The Planck HFI velocity-integrated CO maps for the J = 1 → 0, J = 2 → 1, and J = 3 →2 rotational transitions provide an unprecedented all-sky CO view of the Galaxy. These maps are also of great interest to monitor potential CO contamination of the Planck studies of the cosmological microwave background.
