Abstract: The Planck Catalogue of Compact Sources (PCCS) is the catalogue of sources detected in the first 15 months of Planck operations, the “nominal” mission. It consists of nine single-frequency catalogues of compact sources, both Galactic and extragalactic, detected over the entire sky. The PCCS covers the frequency range 30‐857 GHz with higher sensitivity (it is 90% complete at 180 mJy in the best channel) and better angular resolution (from 32:88 0 to 4:33 0 ) than previous all-sky surveys in this frequency band. By construction its reliability is >80% and more than 65% of the sources have been detected in at least two contiguous Planck channels. In this paper we present the construction and validation of the PCCS, its contents and its statistical characterization.

Abstract: The chiral nematic self-assembly of aqueous suspensions of cellulose nanocrystals is partially preserved on evaporation of water, but the ordering of the rod-like nanoparticles may become distorted by changes in volume, ionic strength and surface and convective forces during evaporation, thus affecting the morphology and optical properties of the dried film. Proposed applications for these solids with chiral nematic order require confirmation of their structure. A SEM examination of the fracture surface of a slowly-dried film showed a surprisingly regular fan-like pattern which is shown to be characteristic of cross-sections of the left-handed helicoidal arrangement of nanocrystals, where the helicoidal axis was almost perpendicular to the film surfaces. Superimposed on this pattern was what appeared to be a regular porosity, which is postulated to result from pull-out of the nanocrystals oriented orthogonal to the fracture surface.

Abstract: Purpose – The aim of this empirical paper is to study information sharing in fresh food supply chains, with a specific goal of reducing waste and facilitating sustainable performance. The study focuses on material and information flow issues, specifically on sharing demand and shelf‐life data.Design/methodology/approach – This work has been designed as an exploratory case study in three fresh food supply chains, milk, fresh fish, and fresh poultry, in the Nordic countries. The cases are based on interviews and data from the databases of the companies involved. Each case focuses on analyzing information flow, particularly the current order patterns and forecasting and planning process, and material flow, focusing on the supply chain structure. In two cases significant changes have been made to forecasting processes and material flow, while the third case intends to identify the most beneficial uses of shared information to create a sustainable fresh food supply chain.Findings – The performance of the peris...

Abstract: Optomechanical systems allow for the exploration of macroscopic behaviour at or near the quantum limit. Massel et al. use micromechanical resonators to study the hybridisation of one photonic and two phononic modes with phonon numbers down to 1.8, showing a coupling between all three degrees of freedom.
