Abstract: . The integer-valued autoregressive (INAR) model with lag p dependence is discussed. The existence and ergodic property of the INAR model are proved. It is shown that the correlation structure of the INAR model is similar to that of the continuous-valued autoregressive (AR) process, and the stationary conditions of INAR and AR processes are also the same.

Abstract: Detailed structural and functional studies over the last decade have led to current recognition of the mycobacterial lipoarabinomannan (LAM) as a phosphatidylinositol anchored lipoglycan with diverse biological activities. Fatty acylation has been demonstrated to be essential for LAM to maintain its functional integrity although the focus has largely been on the arabinan motifs and the terminal capping function. It has recently been shown that the mannose caps may be involved not only in attenuating host immune response, but also in mediating the binding of mycobacteria to and subsequent entry into macrophages. This may further be linked to an intracellular trafficking pathway through which LAM is thought to be presented by CD1 to subsets of T-cells. The implication of LAM as major histocompatibility complex (MHC)-independent T-cell epitope and the ensuing immune response is an area of intensive studies. Another recent focus of research is the biosynthesis of arabinan which has been shown to be inhibitable by the anti-tuberculosis drug, ethambutol. The phenomenon of truncated LAM as synthesized by ethambutol resistant strains provides an invaluable handle for dissecting the array of arabinosyltransferases involved, as well as generating much needed structural variants for further structural and functional studies. It is hoped that with more systematic investigations based on clinical isolates and human cell lines, the true significance of LAM in the immunopathogenesis of tuberculosis and leprosy can eventually be explained.

Abstract: Spectroscopic ellipsometry was used to characterize the complex refractive index of chemical-vapor-deposited monolayer transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs). The extraordinary large value of the refractive index in the visible frequency range is obtained. The absorption response shows a strong correlation between the magnitude of the exciton binding energy and band gap energy. Together with the observed giant spin-orbit splitting, these findings advance the fundamental understanding of their novel electronic structures and the development of monolayer TMDs-based optoelectronic and spintronic devices.

Abstract: This paper describes a measurement of the Z/gamma* boson transverse momentum spectrum using ATLAS proton-proton collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of root s = 7TeV at the LHC. The measurement is performed in the Z/gamma* -> e(+)e(-) and Z/gamma* -> mu(+)mu(-) channels, using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.7 fb(-1). Normalized differential cross sections as a function of the Z/gamma* boson transverse momentum are measured for transverse momenta up to 800 GeV. The measurement is performed inclusively for Z/gamma* rapidities up to 2.4, as well as in three rapidity bins. The channel results are combined, compared to perturbative and resummed QCD calculations and used to constrain the parton shower parameters of Monte Carlo generators.

Abstract: Senescence is the final stage of leaf development. Although it means the loss of vitality of leaf tissue, leaf senescence is tightly controlled by the development to increase the fitness of the whole plant. The molecular mechanisms regulating the induction and progression of leaf senescence are complex. We used a cDNA microarray, containing 11 500 Arabidopsis DNA elements, and the whole-genome Arabidopsis ATH1 Genome Array to examine global gene expression in dark-induced leaf senescence. By monitoring the gene expression patterns at carefully chosen time points, with three biological replicates each time, we identified thousands of up- or down-regulated genes involved in dark-induced senescence. These genes were clustered and categorized according to their expression patterns and responsiveness to dark treatment. Genes with different expression kinetics were classified according to different biological processes. Genes showing significant alteration of expression patterns in all available biochemical pathways were plotted to envision the molecular events occurring in the processes examined. With the expression data, we postulated an innovative biochemical pathway involving pyruvate orthophosphate dikinase in generating asparagine for nitrogen remobilization in dark-treated leaves. We also surveyed the alteration in expression of Arabidopsis transcription factor genes and established an apparent association of GRAS, bZIP, WRKY, NAC, and C2H2 transcription factor families with leaf senescence.
