15 Jun 2019TL;DR: A novel pixel-wise adversarial domain adaptation algorithm that leverages image-to-image translation methods for data augmentation and introduces a cross-domain consistency loss that enforces the adapted model to produce consistent predictions.
Abstract: Unsupervised domain adaptation algorithms aim to transfer the knowledge learned from one domain to another (e.g., synthetic to real images). The adapted representations often do not capture pixel-level domain shifts that are crucial for dense prediction tasks (e.g., semantic segmentation). In this paper, we present a novel pixel-wise adversarial domain adaptation algorithm. By leveraging image-to-image translation methods for data augmentation, our key insight is that while the translated images between domains may differ in styles, their predictions for the task should be consistent. We exploit this property and introduce a cross-domain consistency loss that enforces our adapted model to produce consistent predictions. Through extensive experimental results, we show that our method compares favorably against the state-of-the-art on a wide variety of unsupervised domain adaptation tasks.

TL;DR: In this article, negative-Capacitance FinFETs with a floating internal gate are reported, where ALD Hf042ZrO2 ferroelectricity is added on top of the gate stack.
Abstract: In this work, we report the first Negative-Capacitance FinFET. ALD Hf042Zr058O2 is added on top of the FinFET's gate stack. The test devices have a floating internal gate that can be electrically probed. Direct measurement found the small-signal voltage amplified by 1.6X maximum at the internal gate in agreement with the improvement of the subthreshold swing (from 87 to 55mV/decade). ION increased by >25% for the IOFF. For the first time, we demonstrate that raising HfZrO2 ferroelectricity, by annealing at higher temperature, reduces and eliminates IV hysteresis and increases the voltage gain. These discoveries will guide future theoretical and experimental work.

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that Kramers-Weyl fermions are a universal topological property of all non-magnetic chiral crystals with spin-orbit coupling and are guaranteed by structural chirality, lattice translation and time-reversal symmetry.
Abstract: Chiral crystals are materials with a lattice structure that has a well-defined handedness due to the lack of inversion, mirror or other roto-inversion symmetries. Although it has been shown that the presence of crystalline symmetries can protect topological band crossings, the topological electronic properties of chiral crystals remain largely uncharacterized. Here we show that Kramers-Weyl fermions are a universal topological electronic property of all non-magnetic chiral crystals with spin-orbit coupling and are guaranteed by structural chirality, lattice translation and time-reversal symmetry. Unlike conventional Weyl fermions, they appear at time-reversal-invariant momenta. We identify representative chiral materials in 33 of the 65 chiral space groups in which Kramers-Weyl fermions are relevant to the low-energy physics. We determine that all point-like nodal degeneracies in non-magnetic chiral crystals with relevant spin-orbit coupling carry non-trivial Chern numbers. Kramers-Weyl materials can exhibit a monopole-like electron spin texture and topologically non-trivial bulk Fermi surfaces over an unusually large energy window.
