TL;DR: In this article, a transesterification reaction process was performed to produce biodiesel using crude palm oil, and the process provided higher biodiesel yield of 80% but somehow law in comparison to EN 14214 (96.60 %).
Abstract: Application of low cost high free fatty acids (FFA) feedstock may reduce its overall cost of production. Transesterification reaction process was performed to produce biodiesel using crude palm oil, and the process provided higher biodiesel yield of 80% but somehow law in comparison to EN 14214 (96.60 %). The oil was transesterified using an alcohol (methanol). All the experimental runs carried out were designed using central composite design (CCD) coupled with surface response methodology (RSM) software (Design-Expert 12 software – the latest version (Stat-Ease Inc., USA). Thus, the yield obtained varies from 58% to 80%, the lowest yield was found to be 58% while the highest yield for this production was found to be 80%. With these results, it is clear that CaO nanoparticle is a good catalyst for catalysis in production of biodiesel.

TL;DR: The rDNA ITS was used for molecular identification of fungal isolates from five tropical fruits at the post-harvesting stage and showed that most isolates are host-specific, passion fruit being the ideal host for all the discriminated isolates.
Abstract: Due to their perishable nature, tropical fruits are prone to pre-and post-harvest loss attributed to biotic and abiotic factors. Although the production of tropical fruits such as banana (Musa acum...

TL;DR: In this paper, a detailed field investigation, in-situ rock strength test and laboratory tests were carried out to assess and evaluate the geological and engineering geological condition of the rocks and soils of the town of Adama, Ethiopia.
Abstract: Adama was founded hundred years ago and is one of the major and densely populated towns in Ethiopia. It is located 100 km south–east of Addis Ababa and the hub of a vast region of immense economic potentials accessible by means of rail way and expressway. Due to the mentioned reasons, the urbanization is rapid. However as in many towns of Ethiopia, very little is known about the soil and rock engineering properties. Moreover, the town is located in the southern extreme of the active volcano-tectonic segment of the northern Main Ethiopian Rift (MER). The present research work is, therefore, aimed at assessing and evaluating the geological and engineering geological condition of the rocks and soils of the town. Detailed field investigation, in-situ rock strength test and laboratory tests were carried out. A total of 30 soil samples were taken from 16 test pits, which were dug manually to 3 m depth. The natural moisture content of the soil of the study area ranges from 6.34 - 25.2%, liquid limit 26.06 - 54%, plastic limit 7.5 - 40.83%, plasticity index 2.22 - 26.83%, free swell 0 - 40%, specific gravity 2.12 - 2.67, and pH 4.48 - 6.7. Low to medium plastic silty sand and sand are the dominant soil type in the study area. The rocks of the study area were classified into Low Strength, Medium Strength and High Strength rock mass units based on the strength (Unconfined Compressive Strength) of intact rock and discontinuity characteristics. Gully erosion, land slide, seismic activity and flooding are the main geo-hazard that need attention in the study area

TL;DR: In this article, the proximate and phytochemical compositions of Tridax procumbens were investigated in order to ascertain their nutritional and other applications, and the results obtained indicated the following proximate composition, ash (4.30 ± 0.007), moisture (5.00 ± 0.,003), crude lipids (12.5 ± 0,005), crude protein (19.4 ± 1.008), and total carbohydrate (53.1 ± 2.046).
Abstract: Communication in Physical Sciences 2020, 5(4): 606-610 Proximate and phytochemical compositions of Tridax procumbens were investigated in order to ascertain their nutritional and other applications. The results obtained indicated the following proximate composition, ash (4.30 ± 0.007), moisture (5.00 ± 0.003), crude lipids (12.5 ±0.005), crude fiber (5.70 ± 0.005), crude protein (19.4 ± 0.008) and total carbohydrate (53.1 ± 0.046). Phytochemical screening of acetone and aqueous extracts of the leaves, stem – bark and root of the plants (Tridax procumbens) indicated the presence of phyto-compounds in both extracts. Flavonoids were absent in leaves and stem-bark but presence in the root extracts. Glycosides and terpenoids were absence in the aqueous extracts. However, the acetone extracts indicated the presence of terpenoid in the leaf. The results revealed that different parts of Tridax procumbens contain bioactive compounds that may have some therapeutic potential
