TL;DR: In this paper, a new algorithm to find a non-zero real root of the transcendental equations using trigonometrical formula is presented. But it is based on the combination of inverse of sine series and Newton Raphson method.
Abstract: This paper presents a new algorithm to find a non-zero real root of the transcendental equations using trigonometrical formula. Indeed, the new proposed algorithm is based on the combination of inverse of sine series and Newton Raphson method, which produces better approximate root than Newton Raphson method. The implementation of the proposed algorithm in MATLAB is also discussed. Certain numerical examples are presented to show the efficiency of the proposed algorithm. This algorithm will help to implement in the commercial package for finding a real root of a given transcendental equation.

TL;DR: The application of the first order derivative spectra was employed to determine the levels of caffeine (CAF) and chlorogenic acids (CGA) in defective and nondefective coffee beans without using extraction or background correction techniques and could be a valuable quality control technique.
Abstract: In this research, the application of the first order derivative spectra was employed to determine the levels of caffeine (CAF) and chlorogenic acids (CGA) in defective (immature, black, and sour) and nondefective coffee beans without using extraction or background correction techniques. The extreme points of first order derivate spectra of these compounds were at the wavelength of 260 and 292 nm enable to quantify the contents of CAF and CGA, respectively. The level of CAF and CGA in coffee beans determined by this method is ranged from 1.2 ± 0.12-1.46 ± 0.47% and 4.04 ± 0.44-4.43 ± 0.43%, respectively. The study results also indicated total contents of CAF and CGA levels discriminate the defective and nondefective coffee beans with higher CAF and CGA contents being observed in defective coffee beans. As the method is extremely rapid, easy, and inexpensive and also requires minimal sample preparation for the quantification of CAF and CGA contents in coffee, it could be a valuable quality control technique.

TL;DR: In this article, the impact of cooperative learning approach on the performance of secondary school students in mathematics using some selected secondary schools was investigated and the experimental period was four weeks with a total number of sixteen hours of lesson delivery for each group.
Abstract: This research work investigated the impact of cooperative learning approach on the performance of secondary school students in mathematics using some selected secondary schools. It employed one hundred and twenty students selected from the entire population of students offering mathematics at the senior secondary two (SS 2) levels of the selected schools. Quasi- experimental research design was used and the samples were grouped into groups A and B named experimental and control groups respectively. The experimental period was four weeks with a total number of sixteen hours of lesson delivery for each group. The experimental group was taught using the cooperative learning approach while the control group was taught using the conventional method. A Mathematics Test of Assimilation (MTAS) was administered to the groups and the result was analyzed using ttest. The analysis revealed that the experimental group has a mean score that is significantly higher than that of the control group (p<0.05). It was also observed that sex difference or gender has no significant influence on the performance of students in mathematics when taught using or not using cooperative learning approach (p<0.05). The research generally revealed that the experimental group performed better than the control group. This implies that cooperative learning approach has significant effect on students‟ performance in secondary school mathematics. It is therefore recommended that teachers of mathematics should work together toward the improvement of students‟ performance in mathematics.
