TL;DR: In this article, the authors provide a critical review of the methodology employed in the study of ethical beliefs and behavior of organizational members, revealing that full methodological detail was provided in less than one half of the articles and the majority of empirical research articles expressed no concern for the reliability or validity of measures, were characterized by low response rates, used convenience samples, and did not offer a theoretic framework, hypotheses, or a definition of ethics.
Abstract: Using 94 published empirical articles in academic journals as a data base, this paper provides a critical review of the methodology employed in the study of ethical beliefs and behavior of organizational members. The review revealed that full methodological detail was provided in less than one half of the articles. Further, the majority of empirical research articles expressed no concern for the reliability or validity of measures, were characterized by low response rates, used convenience samples, and did not offer a theoretic framework, hypotheses, or a definition of ethics. Several recommendations, including a reviewer rating form addressing methodological decisions and inclusion of methodologists on the review panel, are offered to improve methodological rigor in published ethics research.

TL;DR: It is shown that a similar formula holds modulo ps where the product involves a slightly modified binomial coefficient evaluated on blocks of s digits.
Abstract: Lucas' theorem on binomial coefficients states that ( A B ) ≡ ( a r b r ) ⋯ ( a 1 b 1 ) ( a 0 b 0 ) (mod p) where p is a prime and A = arpr + ⋯ + a0p + a0, B = brpr + ⋯ + b1p + b0 + are the p-adic expansions of A and B. If s ⩾ 2, it is shown that a similar formula holds modulo ps where the product involves a slightly modified binomial coefficient evaluated on blocks of s digits.w

TL;DR: Results show that serum ir-inhibin levels in rats are decreased at times when serum FSH levels are high, and on the early morning of estrus during the secondary FSH surge.
Abstract: We have measured changes in circulating immunoreactive (ir-) inhibin in male and female rats using an RIA with an antiserum raised against porcine inhibin alpha (1-26)-Gly-Tyr. The same synthetic peptide was used for standards and for the preparation of tracer. Serum ir-inhibin levels were significantly higher in intact female than in intact male rats (p less than 0.001). Immunoreactive inhibin was significantly reduced in both sexes 24 h after bilateral gonadectomy (p less than 0.0001). Unilateral ovariectomy (ULO) of female rats on metestrus caused a transient decrease in serum inhibin 8 h after surgery, but levels were not significantly different from those of sham-operated controls at later times after surgery. Increases in serum FSH and LH were observed for 8-18 h after ULO. Serum ir-inhibin levels were also measured on the early morning of estrus during the secondary FSH surge. At this time, ir-inhibin levels were low, while FSH levels were high and LH levels were low. These results show that serum ir-inhibin levels in rats are decreased at times when serum FSH levels are high.

TL;DR: This paper surveyed psychology majors who graduated between 1967 and 1986 to investigate gender and cohort differences in current perceptions of undergraduate course usefulness, post-baccalaureate education, and occupational achievements.
Abstract: We surveyed psychology majors who graduated between 1967 and 1986 to investigate gender and cohort differences in current perceptions of undergraduate course usefulness, postbaccalaureate education, and occupational achievements. W e found that more women than men (a) obtained bachelor's degrees in psychology during the 20-year period; (b) earned advanced degrees in psychology and psychology-related fields; and (c) in recent years, worked in psychology a d psychology-related positions. The two courses most frequently named as useful since graduation were Abnormal Psychology and Methodology. Our results provide evidence for the male flight from and the resulting feminization of the undergraduate psychology major.

TL;DR: In this paper, the nonradial oscillation spectra of a 0.8 solar mass star in various evolutionary stages along the red giant branch have been studied in the context of tidal capture binary formation in globular clusters.
Abstract: The nonradial oscillation spectra of a 0.8 solar mass star in various evolutionary stages along the red giant branch have been studied in the context of tidal capture binary formation in globular clusters. For capture of a 1.4 solar mass neutron star with a relative velocity at infinity of 10 km/s, the critical impact parameter, X(crit), decreases as the star evolves, ranging from 2.42 at the base of the subgiant branch to about 1.45 at the onset of helium burning. For the capture of lighter stars by the giant, or for larger relative velocities, X(crit) decreases. The reduction of X(crit) from the usually adopted value of three leads to a diminished frequency of binary systems containing a red giant companion and increases the likelihood of the formation of ultra-short period compact binary systems and mergers. The existence of the binary millisecond radio pulsar PSR 1620-26 in the globular cluster M4 indicates that disruption can be avoided in some cases and that the effects of tidally enhanced expansion are minimal for red giant-neutron star binary progenitor systems of this type. An evolutionary scenario for PSR 1620-26 is constructed, demonstrating the viability of the tidal capture scenario for red giants and neutronmore » stars. 34 refs.« less

TL;DR: In this paper, the aggregate production profile for US crude oil for the period 1961 to 1985 is estimated using data on reserves and they find that there is a significant lag between the time that reserves are added and the time production peaks.
