TL;DR: In this paper, an objective multi-criteria decision making method, Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), is used to split a portfolio of projects into accept, consider further and reject subgroups.
Abstract: A method for the analysis, ranking and selection of R&D projects from a portfolio is outlined and demonstrated. It is proposed that an objective multi-criteria decision making method, Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), be used to split a portfolio of projects into accept, consider further and reject sub-groups. Next, the "consider further" group is examined using a subjective method, the Value Creation Model. Such an approach allows for obvious decisions to be automated and complex decisions to be given careful consideration, an approach that is more consistent with how practising managers actually make select/reject decisions. DEA allows for comparison of variables without requiring weights or conversion factors. The relation between research strategy and consideration of categorical data is considered in relation to the research portfolio of the Advanced Technology Division of Bell Laboratories.

TL;DR: In this article, the super-view signals are encoded using compression based on redundancies between the two super-views and then transmitted to a spatial demultiplexer for decoding.
Abstract: In a system and method for transmitting and displaying multiple different views of a scene, three or more simultaneous scene signals, representing multiple different views of a scene, are provided by an appropriate camera arrangement to a spatial multiplexer. The size and resolution of the scene signals are reduced as necessary to combine the multiple scene signals into two super-view signals. The super-view signals are encoded using compression based on redundancies between the two super-views and then transmitted. A decoder receives the transmitted data signal and extracts the two super-view signals according to the inverse of the encoding operation. A spatial demultiplexer recovers the individual scene signals from the decoded super-view signals in accordance with a defined multiplexed order and arrangement. The scene signals are then interpolated as needed to restore the original resolution and size and subsequently displayed.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors reported significant intergrain magnetoresistance (IMR) in polycrystalline double perovskites of SrFe1−x(Mo1/2O3) at room temperature, indicating that a new avenue for spin-polarized tunneling junctions is to utilize insulating interface layers with ferromagnetic or ferrimagnetic coupling.
Abstract: We report significant intergrain magnetoresistance (IMR) in polycrystalline double perovskites of SrFe1−x(Mo or Re)xO3 at room temperature. Systematics of the temperature dependence of IMR indicates that the observed large room-temperature IMR in SrFe1/2Mo1/2O3 originates from the ferrimagnetic nature of insulating grain boundaries as well as the half-metallicity of this perovskite. Our results indicate that a new avenue for spin-polarized tunneling junctions is to utilize insulating interface layers with ferromagnetic or ferrimagnetic coupling.

TL;DR: In this paper, a gas phase spectroscopic study of copper trimer has been conducted and the spectrum fits well to a 2E″←2E′ transition of a D3h molecule with both states undergoing Jahn-Teller distortions.
Abstract: Gas phase spectroscopic studies of copper trimer are reported. A band system in the 5430–5225 A region has been assigned to Cu3 and has been studied by resonant two‐photon ionization spectroscopy, spectroscopy by depletion through predissociation, and by radiation repopulation of excited vibrational states in a cold supersonic molecular beam. The spectrum fits well to a 2E″←2E′ transition of a D3h molecule with both states undergoing Jahn–Teller distortions. In this interpretation, the excited state is well described by a weak Jahn–Teller effect, stabilizing the molecule at a configuration in which one Cu–Cu bond length differs from the others by 0.03 A, with a Jahn–Teller stabilization energy of 9 cm−1. The ground electronic state corresponds to a deep Jahn–Teller situation with the lowest vibronic levels trapped in the distorted configuration. The spectra indicate the tunneling splitting of the lowest vibrational levels in the ground state is 12±7 cm−1. These assignments are based on measured vibrationa...
