TL;DR: In this article, message spoofing is detected by an anti-spoofing application comparing a trusted switch address (i.e., corresponding to an originating switch having processed an incoming message) to an affiliated address (e.g., a switch serving the location of the identified sender).
Abstract: Message spoofing is detected by an anti-spoofing application comparing a trusted switch address (i.e., corresponding to an originating switch having processed an incoming message) to an 'affiliated' address (i.e., corresponding to a switch serving the location of the identified sender). Message spoofing is detected if the trusted address differs from the affiliated address.

TL;DR: In this article, a cache-based compaction technique is used to reduce the amount of information that must be transmitted from an Internet server to a user's computer or workstation when the user requests an Internet object, for example by clicking on a URL in a web browser application.
Abstract: The amount of information that must be transmitted from an Internet server to a user's computer or workstation when the user requests an Internet object, for example, by clicking on a URL in a web browser application, is reduced using a cache-based compaction technique in which the requested object is encoded in the server using information relating to similar objects that were previously supplied to the user. Similar objects available in both a client side cache and a server side cache are selected by comparing the URL of the requested object to the URL's of stored objects. Differential encoding is performed in the server such that the server transmits to the client information indicative of the differences between the requested object and the reference (similar) objects available in the server cache. A corresponding decoding operation is performed in the client, using the encoded version and reference objects available in the client cache.

TL;DR: In this article, the packing and thermal motion of the terminal CH3 groups of monolayers of nalkane thiols self-assembled on Au(111)/mica films and a single crystal surface was studied.
Abstract: Low energy helium diffraction has been used to study the packing and thermal motion of the terminal CH3 groups of monolayers of n‐alkane thiols self‐assembled on Au(111)/mica films and a Au(111) single crystal surface. At low temperatures (<100 K), the terminal CH3 groups are arranged in domains containing a hexagonal lattice with a lattice constant of 5.01 A. As the length of the carbon chain is shortened, an abrupt decrease in the diffraction peak intensities is observed for CH3(CH2)9SH/Au(111)/mica, and no diffraction is observed for CH3(CH2)5SH/Au(111)/mica. This is indicative of a sudden decrease in surface order at around ten carbon atoms per chain. A semi‐quantitative estimation of the average domain size of each monolayer surface shows a maximum of 46 A at intermediate chain length [CH3(CH2)13SH/Au(111)/mica], decreasing to 26 A at longer [CH3(CH2)21SH/Au(111)/mica] and 41 A at shorter [CH3(CH2)9SH/Au(111)/mica] chain lengths. No phase transitions could be detected at the surfaces of these monolay...

TL;DR: In this paper, a method for ensuring that specific traffic flows are adequately prioritized in a public packet communication network even when the network is heavily congested is provided for ensuring queuing.
Abstract: A method is provided for ensuring that specific traffic flows are adequately prioritized in a public packet communication network even when the network is heavily congested. Per-flow QoS capability is added to VPN tunnels. Connection requests are routed through a specific port in an access provider's network to designated VPN gateway. Deep packet inspection is performed on traffic through the port in an attempt to determine whether the connection request was accepted. If the connection request was accepted, the traffic flows associated with that session may be given a specific priority of QoS level when transiting a packet access network.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method and apparatus is provided such that accesses to a world wide web home page can be responded to with a home page adapted to the language or dialect that is most likely to to match the native language of the user, and since some data transmissions are regulated by national law, the user and client location information is used by the server to prevent the server or the client from violating their respective national laws.
Abstract: In order to make the world wide web truly world wide, a method and apparatus is provided such that accesses to a world wide web home page can be responded to with a home page adapted to the language or dialect that is most likely to to match the native language or dialect of the user. To provide this, the user's country code, numerical node address, or the user's client system address is matched in a database to provide the most likely language. Other languages may be selected if the choice is incorrect and the database will remember that selection for future accesses. Further, since some data transmissions are regulated by national law, the user and client location information is used by the server to prevent the server or the client from violating their respective national laws.
