TL;DR: The results show that the leaf extract of C. fistula is promising as a larvicidal and ovicidal agent against C. quinquefasciatus and A. stephensi.
Abstract: Methanolic leaf extract of Cassia fistula was tested for larvicidal and ovicidal activity against Culex quinquefasciatus and Anopheles stephensi. The extract was found to be more lethal to the larvae of A. stephensi than C. quinquefasciatus with LC(50) values of 17.97 and 20.57 mg/l, respectively. Mean percent hatchability of the ovicidal activity was observed 120 h after treatment. The percent hatchability was inversely proportional to the concentration of extract and directly proportional to the eggs. The egg raft of C. quinquefasciatus was found to be more hatchable than A. stephensi. The results show that the leaf extract of C. fistula is promising as a larvicidal and ovicidal agent against C. quinquefasciatus and A. stephensi.

TL;DR: A study on the effect of electron acceptors on photooxidation reveals that both decolourisation and degradation increase in the presence of H(2)O(2), (NH(4))( 2)S(2]O(8), KBrO(3), to certain dosage beyond which the enhancement effect is negligible.

TL;DR: A bacterial foraging (BF) algorithm based multilevel thresholding is presented, which is used to find the optimal threshold values for maximizing the Kapur's and Otsu's objective functions.
Abstract: The conventional multilevel thresholding methods are efficient for bi-level thresholding. However, they are computationally expensive extending to multilevel thresholding since they exhaustively search the optimal thresholds to optimize the objective functions. To overcome this drawback, a bacterial foraging (BF) algorithm based multilevel thresholding is presented in this paper. The BF algorithm is used to find the optimal threshold values for maximizing the Kapur's and Otsu's objective functions. The feasibility of the proposed BF technique has been tested on ten standard test images and benchmarked with particle swarm optimization algorithm (PSO) and genetic algorithm (GA). Experimental results of both qualitative and quantitative comparative studies for several existing methods illustrate the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed algorithm.
