TL;DR: The integrated use of data analysis and Multi-criteria Decision Analysis approach, in a GIS context, resulted in a visible assessment of current land use in Regina, providing valuable information for the urban extension for policy and decision makers.
Abstract: Land use suitability assessment is a key factor in any urban and suburban planning and decision-making processes. The assessment is evaluated by a series of criteria involving socio-economic needs. To deal with the conflicting, disproportionate and multiple criteria, land usage will be characterized with respect to the preferences and importance. Meanwhile, many spatial decision problems can be typically analyzed and interpreted visually by applying GIS for mapping and analysis. Accordingly, this study is to introduce the Multi-criteria decision analysis into the land use suitability analysis along with the existing perspective evolving the role of GIS. For case study, it is the first time to conduct the identification of the current land use situations in City of Regina by using GIS, combined with multi-criteria analysis ideology for existing condition analysis with three criteria referring to social and economic factors. Finally, the study identified five suitability levels, which has revealed the trends, challenges and prospects of land use analysis for urban extension in City of Regina. Comparing the simulated land use suitable classes to the existing land use pattern, difference and optionality have been presented. The results are providing valuable information for the urban extension for policy and decision makers. To improve the accuracy and the reliability of the real-world case study, criteria selection and weight assignments ranks the first place. The integrated use of data analysis and Multi-criteria Decision Analysis approach, in a GIS context, resulted in a visible assessment of current land use in Regina.

TL;DR: In this article, a Markov chain Monte Carlo-based multilevel factorial analysis (MCMC-MFA) method is developed, which can not only generate samples of parameters from a well constructed Markov Chain and assess parameter uncertainties with straightforward Bayesian inference, but also investigate the individual and interactive effects of multiple parameters on model output through measuring the specific variations of hydrological responses.

TL;DR: In this article, an asymptotic analysis of the dispersion relation for wave propagation in a pre-stressed incompressible elastic plate is presented, where wave speeds as a function of the wavenumber and pre-stress are obtained.
Abstract: This paper concerns an asymptotic analysis of the dispersion relation for wave propagation in a pre-stressed incompressible elastic plate. Asymptotic expansions for the wave speed as a function of wavenumber and pre-stress are obtained. These expansions have important potenatial applications to many dynamic problems such as impact problems. It is shown that in the large wavenumber limit the wave speed of the fundamental modes of both symmetric and anti-symmetric motions tends to the associated Rayleigh surface wave speed, on the other hand, the wave speeds of all the harmonics tend to a single limit which is the corresponding body wave speed. It is also shown that, whereas the fundamental modes are very sensitive to changes in the underlying pre-stress, the harmonics are little affected by such changes, espcially in the small and large wavenumber limits.

TL;DR: Soil cyanob bacteria isolated from the paddy fields of seven provinces in Iran was evaluated for antimicrobial activity and selected cyanobacteria with positive antimicrobial activities were members of the families Stigonemataceae, Nostocaceae, Oscillatoriaceae, and Chroococcaceae.
Abstract: Soil cyanobacteria isolated from the paddy fields of seven provinces in Iran was evaluated for antimicrobial activity. Aqueous, petroleum ether, and methanol extracts from 76 microalgae were examined for antimicrobial properties against four bacteria and two fungi. Of total microalgae, 22.4% (17 cyanobacteria) exhibited antimicrobial effects. Selected cyanobacteria with positive antimicrobial activities were members of the families Stigonemataceae, Nostocaceae, Oscillatoriaceae, and Chroococcaceae. Growth of Bacillus subtilis Persian Type Culture Collection (PTCC) 1204 and Staphylococcus epidermidis PTCC 1114 were inhibited by 12 and 14 species of cyanobacteria, respectively. Also, eight cyanobacteria inhibited the growth of Escherichia coli PTCC 1047, and two species inhibited the growth of Salmonella typhi PTCC 1108. Considering fungi, six species inhibited the growth of Candida kefyr ATCC 1140, and one cyanobacterium species inhibited the growth of Candida albicans ATCC 14053. Furthermore, one ...

TL;DR: The results indicate that both approaches to the multi-compartment vehicle routing problem with time window are reasonably efficient for the MCVRPTW, with the HPSO algorithm having overall better performance, particularly in delivering the best solution, for all cases and the PSO algorithm showing a slight edge in terms of the worst solution and standard deviation.
