TL;DR: In this article, Coulomb blockade behaviors with clear Coulomb gaps were observed in currentvoltage and log I-V curves of the chemisorbed Au nanoparticles by scanning tunneling spectroscopy at room temperature.
Abstract: Sub-2-nm-size basic ligand Au nanoparticles were chemically synthesized and chemisorbed on an acidic self-assembled monolayer/Au(111) substrate by acid–base interaction. Coulomb blockade behaviors with clear Coulomb gaps were observed in current–voltage (I–V) and log I–V curves of the chemisorbed Au nanoparticles by scanning tunneling spectroscopy at room temperature. By fitting the measured I(V) and log I(V) to a Coulomb blockade model, we estimated the charging energy of one electron on the Au nanoparticles to be 10 times greater than the thermal energy k T; the tunneling resistance of the Au core–Au(111) surface was evaluated to be 3.5 GΩ ±15%.

TL;DR: The need for more educational interventions to address negative attitudes and promote healthy lifestyle practices and regular health checks especially in certain subgroups of patients, such as those not having a degree related to the medical field and notHaving a first-degree relative with DM.
Abstract: Aims To assess the knowledge and practices toward diabetes in the Jordanian community Methods This study was conducted as a public based cross-sectional study in different cities in Jordan A previously published validated questionnaire about knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) toward diabetes mellitus (DM) was translated from the Arabic version and used in this study with very minor modification to be suitable for this study of the Jordanian population Results A total of 1,702 participants were recruited in the present study About half of the participants (533%) had good knowledge scores The respondents’ knowledge scores were significantly correlated with attitudes (p < 0001) The education level (university or higher) and education related to a field were predictors for good knowledge and positive attitudes About 463% of participants had positive attitudes toward the disease As for practices, 377% of participants did not engage in regular exercise while more than half of the study subjects had never checked their blood glucose level on an annual basis The factors influencing the practice of checking blood glucose level have been investigated Conclusion This study has highlighted the need for more educational interventions to address negative attitudes and promote healthy lifestyle practices and regular health checks especially in certain subgroups of patients, such as those not having a degree related to the medical field and not having a first-degree relative with DM

TL;DR: It was rather surprising for us that a complete inverted cell pattern was formed when the PEG gel pattern surface was prepared using methanol/water co-solvent and when hepatoma cancer cells were seeded on the constructed surface prepared by Method B.
Abstract: We present herein the novel technique for constructing inverted cell-adhesion patternes on PEG gel modified glass surfaces by photoirradiation using the same photomask and materials. The PEG gel micropatterns were prepared by a photolithographic technique using a photomask with 100 µm aligned cavities after spin-coating of a mixed solution of α,ω-dimethacryloyl-PEG (PEG-DMA) and a photoinitiator on glass surfaces. When methanol was used as a casting solvent for the spin-coating (Method A), the circular PEG gel domains with a diameter of 100 µm were fabricated on the surface, and as would be predicted, seeded bovine aortic endothelial cells (BAECs) adhered to the glass area on the constructed surface to form a BAECs sheet with 100 µm aligned cavity. In contrast, it was rather surprising for us that a complete inverted cell pattern was formed when the PEG gel pattern surface was prepared using methanol/water co-solvent (Method B). Furthermore, when hepatoma cancer cells were seeded on the constructed surface prepared by Method B, they formed a spherical multicellular aggregate (spheroid) on the unmodified PEG gel domains without feeder cells. In order to obtain information on this peculiar phenomenon, fluorescence-based protein adsorption experiments, contact angle measurements, and X-ray photospectroscopy (XPS) analysis were carried out.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined the main factors affect mobile phone brand choice from a behavioral perspective, through analyzing a set of pre-behavior and post-behavior factors from a Jordanian customer's perspective, the research adds value to the behavior analysis literature by expanding the scope of the Behavior Perspective Model (BPM) applications within a real behavior setting.
Abstract: The aim of this research is to examine the main factors affect mobile phone brand choice from a behavioral perspective, through analyzing a set of pre-behavior and post-behavior factors from a Jordanian customer’s perspective, the research adds value to the behavior analysis literature by expanding the scope of the Behavior Perspective Model (BPM) applications within a real behavior setting. Using a structured questionnaire consisted of a pre-tested set of questions, which were distributed to a hundreds of respondents in three main Jordanian universities. A Multinomial Logistic Regression analysis is used to investigate the predetermined factors that affect mobile phone brand choice as proposed by the BPM. Research results, conclusions, recommendations and future researches are also discussed.
