TL;DR: In this article, a new adaptive supervisory controller for the optimal management and protection simultaneously of a hybrid wind turbine in both regions (II and III) was proposed, where the second order sliding mode with the adaptive gain super-twisting control law and fuzzy logic control are used in the machine side, batteries side and grid side converters, to achieve four control objectives: (1) control of the rotor speed to track the optimal value; (2) adaptive control (commutative mode) in order to maximum power point tracking (MPPT) or power limit in various regions
Abstract: One of the major factors that can increase the efficiency of wind turbines (WTs) is the simultaneous control of the different parts in several operating area. The main problem associated with control design in wind generator is the presence of asymmetric in the dynamic model of the system, which makes a generic supervisory control scheme for the power management of WT complicated. Consequently, supervisory controller can be utilized as the main building block of a wind farm controller (offshore), which meets the grid code requirements and can increased the efficiency and protection of WTs in (region II and III) at the same time. This paper proposes a new effective adaptive supervisory controller for the optimal management and protection simultaneously of a hybrid WT, in both regions (II and III). To this end, the second order sliding mode with the adaptive gain super-twisting control law and fuzzy logic control are used in the machine side, batteries side and grid side converters, to achieve four control objectives: (1) control of the rotor speed to track the optimal value; (2) adaptive control (commutative mode) in order to maximum power point tracking (MPPT) or power limit in various regions; (3)regulate the average DC link voltage near to its nominal value;(4) ensure: a smooth regulation with high quality of power supply injected into the grid, a satisfactory power factor correction and a high harmonic performance in relation to the AC source and eliminating the chattering effect. Results of extensive simulation studies prove that the proposed supervisory control system guarantees to track reference signals with a high harmonic performance despite external disturbance uncertainties.

TL;DR: This work highlights the crucial role of mild heat in modulating the microenvironment in optimum for improved immunotherapy, by converting the tumor into an in situ vaccine.
Abstract: Although there have been more than 100 clinical trials, CpG-based immunotherapy has been seriously hindered by complications in the immunosuppressive microenvironment of established tumors. Inspired by the decisive role of fever upon systemic immunity, a photothermal CpG nanotherapeutics (PCN) method with the capability to induce an immunofavorable tumor microenvironment by casting a fever-relevant heat (43 °C) in the tumor region is developed. High-throughput gene profile analysis identifies nine differentially expressed genes that are closely immune-related upon mild heat, accompanied by IL-6 upregulation, a pyrogenic cytokine usually found during fever. When treated with intratumor PCN injection enabling mild heating in the tumor region, the 4T1 tumor-bearing mice exhibit significantly improved antitumor immune effects compared with the control group. Superb efficacy is evident from pronounced apoptotic cell death, activated innate immune cells, enhanced tumor perfusion, and intensified innate and adaptive immune responses. This work highlights the crucial role of mild heat in modulating the microenvironment in optimum for improved immunotherapy, by converting the tumor into an in situ vaccine.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the influence of digital technology, instructional and assessment quality, economic status and psychological state on Jordanian university students' attitudes towards online learning during the COVID-19 emergency transition to online learning.
Abstract: The present study investigates the influence of digital technology, instructional and assessment quality, economic status and psychological state, and course type on Jordanian university students’ attitudes towards online learning during the COVID-19 emergency transition to online learning. A survey of 4,037 undergraduate students representing four Jordanian public and private universities revealed that personal challenges (such as economic and psychological stress) decreased students’ willingness to learn online in the future, while the quality of the online experience (including instructional and assessment quality) improved their attitudes towards learning online in the future. Students also believed that Arts & Humanities courses were better suited for online teaching/learning than Sciences courses, a difference that persisted after controlling for personal challenges and the quality of the online learning experience.

TL;DR: In this article, the performance of carbonated water injection (CWI) as a means of improved oil recovery was examined through series of carefully designed laboratory experiments and it was concluded that CO 2 solubility in brine is more dominant parameter and controls the efficiency of CWI process rather than minimum miscibility pressure (MMP) between CO 2 and the oil.
