Abstract: Selective breeding is a complex problem. A simple procedure which involves two separate lines and line crossing every third generation is presented. The advantages are increased genetic performance and reduced rate of inbreeding. The procedure and theory are discussed. Particular emphasis is placed on the need to avoid inbreeding, which can lead to loss of the breeding population.
