TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examine the emerging context using ideas drawn from cultural historical theory, the sociology of consumption and the sociability of childhood to explore children's contemporary play experiences.
Abstract: In many countries technologies are still not fully integrated with perspectives on play-based learning in early childhood education. This is evidenced in international curriculum documents that continue to separate descriptions of play as a basis for learning from the use of technologies as learning outcomes for young children. Meanwhile, technologies continue to be rapidly interfaced with digital media, and in particular, provide a platform for young children's consumption of popular culture. Understanding children's play is this newly emerging context provides one way of thinking about how best to bridge the gap between pedagogical understandings of play and young children's experiences with digital technologies, digital media and their consumption of popular culture. This article examines the emerging context using ideas drawn from cultural historical theory, the sociology of consumption and the sociology of childhood to explore children's contemporary play experiences. It is suggested that a contextua...

TL;DR: There was somewhat limited evidence to support the use of music interventions under certain conditions to facilitate social, communicative and behavioural skills in young children with autism.
Abstract: It is widely reported that music can be beneficial to individuals with autism. This review was undertaken to determine the evidence base for the use of music as an intervention for children with autism. After searching relevant databases, 128 articles were identified of which 20 articles met the study's inclusion criteria. Composed songs and improvisational music therapy were the predominant music techniques used. There was somewhat limited evidence to support the use of music interventions under certain conditions to facilitate social, communicative and behavioural skills in young children with autism. The implications of these findings in terms of use of music interventions, issues related to generalization and maintenance, and future research are discussed.

TL;DR: Experiences and skills, motivation, habits, cultural beliefs and values, functional and cognitive abilities, confidence, and support and access to care are all important to consider when developing or improving interventions for patients with heart failure and their families.
Abstract: As described in the theory of self-care in chronic illness, there is a wide range of factors that can influence self-care behavior. The purpose of this paper is to summarize the recent heart failur ...

TL;DR: A thorough understanding of the physiological role these miRNAs play in these tissues, and changes to their expression under pathological conditions, will allow researchers to develop new therapeutics with the potential to correct the aberrant expression of mi RNAs in type 2 diabetes and obesity.
Abstract: MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of short, single-stranded non-protein coding gene products which can regulate the gene expression through post-transcriptional inhibition of messenger RNA (mRNA) translation. They are known to be involved in many essential biological processes including development, insulin secretion, and adipocyte differentiation. miRNAs are involved in complex metabolic processes, such as energy and lipid metabolism, which have been studied in the context of diabetes and obesity. Obesity, hyperlipidemia (elevated levels of blood lipids), and insulin resistance are strongly associated with the onset of type 2 diabetes. These conditions are also associated with aberrant expression of multiple essential miRNAs in pancreatic islets of Langerhans and peripheral tissues, including adipose tissue. A thorough understanding of the physiological role these miRNAs play in these tissues, and changes to their expression under pathological conditions, will allow researchers to develop new therapeutics with the potential to correct the aberrant expression of miRNAs in type 2 diabetes and obesity.

TL;DR: Ten advantages of ultra‐strong gradients for microstructural imaging are described, and how the increase of the accessible measurement space compared to a lower‐gradient systems can accelerate developments in the areas of axon diameter distribution mapping, tumour characterisation, and quality enhancement of images acquired on lower‐ gradient systems.
