TL;DR: In this paper, the most general expression for the WZH vertex which is the most relevant for the production of charged Higgs particles was derived for SU(2) electroweak gauge models with standard fermion assignments.
Abstract: In the framework of SU(2)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}U(1) electroweak gauge models with standard fermion assignments we derive the most general expression for the $\mathrm{WZH}$ vertex which is the most relevant for the production of charged Higgs particles. We show that the vertex only exists with an appreciable strength in models with a rather complicated Higgs sector. Experimental detection of charged Higgs particles seems therefore very difficult.

TL;DR: The chemical modification of bovine pancreatic ribonuclease A by 6-chloropurine 9-beta-D-ribofuranosyl 5'-monophosphate was studied under several reaction conditions and showed a high degree of specificity in comparison to those corresponding to the base or the nucleoside.
Abstract: The chemical modification of bovine pancreatic ribonuclease A by 6-chloropurine 9-β-d-ribo-furanosyl 5′-monophosphate was studied under several reaction conditions. The reaction, at pH 7.3, 40°C and a nucleotide: enzyme molar ratio of 60, showed a high degree of specificity in comparison to those corresponding to the base or the nucleoside. The main derivative was isolated by means of CM-cellulose chromatography. Subtilisin cleavage of this derivative showed that the substitution had taken place in the S-peptide moiety. Tryptic digestion of the S-peptide indicated that a lysine residue had been modified. Enzymatic and physico-chemical considerations showed that the actual site of reaction was the α-amino group of Lys-1. The structural and kinetic properties of the derivative are consistent with the existence of a phosphate-binding sub-site near the N-terminal region of the enzyme.

TL;DR: In this article, a thermodynamic potential that provides a suitable description of the fluctuations of the hydrodynamical dissipative fluxes when it is used in an expression analogous to the classical Einstein formula for the probability of fluctuations is defined.
Abstract: Starting from the generalized Gibbs equation of extended irreversible thermodynamics, we define a thermodynamic potential that provides a suitable description of the fluctuations of the hydrodynamical dissipative fluxes when it is used in an expression analogous to the classical Einstein formula for the probability of fluctuations. In the limit of vanishing relaxation times, our results coincide with those of Landau-Lifshitz. The effect of the rapid normal modes is taken into account as a stochastic noise in the evolution equations of the dissipative fluxes, and their covariance matrix is found from a fluctuation-dissipation theorem.

TL;DR: Computed cysternography with metrizamide (CCM) and time control will not only show the relationship between these structures and the arachnoid space but also their dynamic aspect, which may determine the surgical treatment.
Abstract: Intracranial arachnoid cysts do not usually present diagnostic problems when studied by CT, since they appear as low density images similar to those produced by CSF, do not change on intravenous contrast perfusion, and are located extraparenchymatously. Sometimes, however, their diagnosis can become difficult or doubtful mainly in cases of deep, basal or paramedian cysts [12, 18, 22, 24]. on the other hand, the functional or dynamic aspects of these structures remain unkown when the study is limited to simple CT. Computed cysternography with metrizamide (CCM) and time control will not only show the relationship between these structures and the arachnoid space but also their dynamic aspect, which may determine the surgical treatment.

Abstract: Meiotic studies can be carried out in the spermatogenic cells present in ejaculate. Using this technique, we identified one man with a reciprocal translocation and six oligochiasmatic males among 180 patients studied. The technique is easy and reliable; good-quality figures can be obtained, and meiotic studies can be carried out as often as needed.

TL;DR: There is little evidence, overall, that the mortality has increased, even though hospital admissions have risen steeply, and the subject may be regarded under two main headings; household accidents mainly affecting children under five years of age and deliberate self-poisoning in the older age groups, chiefly due to drugs.
Abstract: In the Western world acute poisoning is one of the most important medicosocial phenomena today and its incidence is increasing. In spite of the interest that the subject has attracted, the problem has been difficult to characterize epidemiologically i n Spain, basically owing to the lack of data and also to the absence of a center sufficiently coordinated and specialized to give sufficient assistance and information on this type of problem. The subject may be regarded under two main headings; household accidents mainly affecting children under five years of age and deliberate self-poisoning in the older age groups, chiefly due to drugs. At the same time, there is little evidence, overall, that the mortality has increased, even though hospital admissions have risen steeply.

TL;DR: A reciprocal translocation in a man, ascertained through the study of meiosis in semen, and a partial trisomy 10q in his abnormal son are described, which are probably due to the presence in triplicate of the region q25→qter of chromosome 10.
Abstract: We describe a reciprocal translocation (10;13) in a man, ascertained through the study of meiosis in semen, and a partial trisomy 10q in his abnormal son. The phenotypic anomalies of the partial 10q trisomy syndrome are probably due to the presence in triplicate of the region q25→qter of chromosome 10.

Abstract: Q and G banding studies of the chromosomes of a specimen of Lagothrix lagothricha cana permitted identification of a// pairs in the complement. The X is a medium-sized submetacentric, the Y a very small acrocentric. Some chromosome pairs show banding patterns identical to those found in some chromosomes of Cebus apella, C. albifrons and Saimin sciureus. To our knowledge, no banding studies have been published so far in any of these subspecies. In this paper, we described the Q and G banding patterns of a specimen of Lagothrix lagothricha cana (2n = 62).

TL;DR: The diagnosis of giardiasis was achieved by a peroral small-bowel mucosal biopsy, and all of the abnormal findings were reversed after medical therapy.
Abstract: We present a patient with giardiasis, whose exploratory findings were misleading. The initial symptomatology included diarrhea and weight loss, but the physical examination revealed an abdominal tumor, which could be correlated with a mass image appearing on the small bowel x-ray films. Seroagglutinations for brucellosis, typhoid, and paratyphoid, fever were negative, as well as the search for antiyersinia and anti toxoplasma antibodies. Neither aerobic nor anaerobic pathogens were isolated in blood or stool cultures. Direct microscopic examination of recent fecal smears did not show eggs or parasites. An exploratory laparotomy demonstrated a mesenteric granulomatous lymphadenitis. Finally, the diagnosis of giardiasis was achieved by a peroral small-bowel mucosal biopsy, and all of the abnormal findings were reversed after medical therapy. Some striking features of this case are commented on . mal. TL;DR: In this paper, a new model for the transport through membranes, introduced previously by Hosur, is considered, in which the membrane is assimilated to a potential barrier, and the material flow through the membrane can be determined from the transmission coefficient of the barrier, assuming the existence of an energy difference among the molecules placed at both sides of the membrane.
Abstract: In the present paper a new model for the transport through membranes, introduced previously by Hosur, is considered. In this model, the membrane is assimilated to a potential barrier, and the material flow through the membrane is determined from the transmission coefficient of the barrier, assuming the existence of an energy difference among the molecules placed at both sides of the membrane. An equation for the transport, in the case of small energy differences, is obtained, which is particularized to the cases that the energy difference is caused by a temperature gradient, a concentration gradient, and both gradients acting together. In all cases, under certain limitations, formally identical equations to those of the thermodynamics of irreversible processes are obtained.

Abstract: A mixture of stereoisomers of 2,4-dimethoxybicyclo[3.3.1]nonan-9-one was prepared, separated by column chromatography and characterized by 60 MHz 1H NMR spectroscopy using Eu(fod)3. A double chair conformation with axial methoxyl groups is established for (1R,2S,4R,5S)-2,4-dimethoxybicyclo[3.3.1]-nonan-9-one on the basis of the J(12), J(2,H-3 exo) and J(2,3 endo) values and the chemical shifts for H-2(4). The conformation of some related compounds is subsequently inferred.
