TL;DR: In this article, the authors evaluated the mechanical properties of woven jute fabric-reinforced composites using hand lay-up techniques as per the ASTM standard, including tensile strength, compressive strength, flexural strength, impact strength, inplane shear strength, interlaminar shear and hardness.
Abstract: This research work is concerned with the evaluation of the mechanical properties—modulus, Poisson's ratio and strength—of woven jute fabric-reinforced composites. The specimens are prepared using hand lay-up techniques as per the ASTM standard. This is the first report by any single group of researchers in which tensile strength, compressive strength, flexural strength, impact strength, inplane shear strength, interlaminar shear strength and hardness are given. This work being an experimental study on untreated (`as received' jute fabric) woven jute fabric-reinforced polyester composites, demonstrates the potential of this renewable source of natural fibre for use in a number of consumable goods.

TL;DR: An intelligent traffic control system to pass emergency vehicles smoothly by using RFID reader, NSK EDK-125-TTL, and PIC16F877A system-on-chip to read the RFID tags attached to the vehicle and counts number of vehicles that passes on a particular path during a specified duration.
Abstract: This paper presents an intelligent traffic control system to pass emergency vehicles smoothly. Each individual vehicle is equipped with special radio frequency identification (RFID) tag (placed at a strategic location), which makes it impossible to remove or destroy. We use RFID reader, NSK EDK-125-TTL, and PIC16F877A system-on-chip to read the RFID tags attached to the vehicle. It counts number of vehicles that passes on a particular path during a specified duration. It also determines the network congestion, and hence the green light duration for that path. If the RFID-tag-read belongs to the stolen vehicle, then a message is sent using GSM SIM300 to the police control room. In addition, when an ambulance is approaching the junction, it will communicate to the traffic controller in the junction to turn ON the green light. This module uses ZigBee modules on CC2500 and PIC16F877A system-on-chip for wireless communications between the ambulance and traffic controller. The prototype was tested under different combinations of inputs in our wireless communication laboratory and experimental results were found as expected.

TL;DR: In this article, the Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA) is used to find optimal sizing and placement of capacitors for a typical radial distribution system, which is validated by applying it on standard radial systems: IEEE-34 bus and IEEE-85 bus radial distribution test systems.
Abstract: In present days, continuous effort is being made in bringing down the line losses of the electrical distribution networks. Therefore proper allocation of capacitors is of utmost importance because, it will help in reducing the line losses and maintaining the bus voltage. This in turn results in improving the stability and reliability of the system. In this paper Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA) is used to find optimal sizing and placement of capacitors for a typical radial distribution system. Multi objectives such as operating cost reduction and power loss minimization with inequality constraints on voltage limits are considered and the proposed algorithm is validated by applying it on standard radial systems: IEEE-34 bus and IEEE-85 bus radial distribution test systems. The results obtained are compared with those of existing algorithms. The results show that the proposed algorithm is more effective in bringing down the operating costs and in maintaining better voltage profile.
