TL;DR: In this article, the performance of synthetic graphite and petroleum coke electrodes in a variety of Li salt solutions was investigated using FTIR spectroscopy in conjunction with electrochemical techniques, and it was found that the performane of these Li-C anodes in terms of capacity and cycle life is determined by the passivating ability of the surface films.

TL;DR: In this paper, a model for the atomic arrangements in the gallium oxide layer and its interface with the underlying liquid was proposed based on comparisons with known crystal structures. But the results showed that the oxide layer provides rigidity to the liquid surface and is likely a solid.
Abstract: and roughness of the liquid/oxide and oxide/vapor interfaces do not change with oxygen dosage up to 1600 L nor with temperature up to 573 K. This is in contrast to what is observed for the bare liquid-Ga surface, which is roughened significantly by thermally excited capillary waves with temperatures up to only 443 K. This is a good indication that the oxide layer provides rigidity to the liquid surface and is likely a solid; grazingincidence measurements suggest that the film is amorphous or poorly crystallized. Based on comparisons with known crystal structures, models are suggested for the atomic arrangements in the gallium oxide layer and its interface with the underlying liquid. @S0163-1829~97!03815-0#

TL;DR: The authors present new evidence on the magnitude of migration of skilled workers at the international level and then discuss its direct and indirect effects on human capital formation in developing countries in a unified stylized model.
Abstract: The authors focus on the consequences of skilled migration for developing countries. They first present new evidence on the magnitude of migration of skilled workers at the international level and then discuss its direct and indirect effects on human capital formation in developing countries in a unified stylized model. Finally they turn to policy implications, with emphasis on migration and education policy in a context of globalized labor markets.

TL;DR: This article examined the effect of affective commitment, job satisfaction and job performance on turnover intentions across three professional groups of employees and managers: financial officers, social workers and lawyers employed in the public sector and private sector.
Abstract: Although considerable research effort has been devoted to understanding work attitudes, behaviours and outcomes regarding turnover intentions, little has been done to explore it across different professions. This study takes a step in this direction and examines the effect of affective commitment, job satisfaction and job performance on turnover intentions across three professions. To this end, we surveyed three professional groups of employees and managers: financial officers and social workers employed in the public sector and lawyers employed in the private sector. The results of these three studies show that turnover intentions vary across these professions. Social workers exhibit lower turnover intentions than financial officers and lawyers, who tend to exhibit high turnover intentions. In addition, we found that job satisfaction and affective commitment are negatively associated with turnover intentions, while no significant relationship was found to exist between job performance and turnov...
