TL;DR: Extracts from the adults of two trematodes have been shown to contain three phosphagens, phosphoarginine, phosphocreatine, and phosphoglycocyamine, which were inhibited by EDTA and mercuric ions while iodoacetate had no effect.
Abstract: Extracts from the adults of two trematodesFasciola gigantica andParamphistomum explanatum have been shown to contain three phosphagens, phosphoarginine, phosphocreatine, and phosphoglycocyamine. The three phosphokinases involved in the transphosphorylation of these phosphagens in both worms were inhibited by EDTA and mercuric ions while iodoacetate had no effect.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present results of QSAR studies realized with the PRECLAV (Property Evaluation by Class Variables) software, which contains 66 derivatives of aromatic benzene sulfonamides incorporating 1, 3, 5-triazine moieties, fluorophenyl sulfamates, S-substituted-2-mercaptobenzenesulfonamide and diazenylbenzenes sulfonamide with clinically used CA inhibitors.
Abstract: This paper presents results of QSAR (Quantitative Structure Activity Relationship) studies realized with the PRECLAV (Property Evaluation by Class Variables) software. The database contains 66 derivatives of aromatic benzene sulfonamides incorporating 1, 3, 5-triazine moieties, fluorophenyl sulfamates, S-substituted-2-mercaptobenzenesulfonamide and diazenylbenzenesulfonamides with clinically used CA inhibitors. For each molecule over 3600 descriptors were calculated using programs MOPAC, PRECLAV and DRAGON. A heuristic algorithm selects the best multiple linear regression (MLR) equation showed that the correlation between the observed values and the calculated values of activity is very good (N = 66, Se = 0.263, r(2) = 0.884, F = 92.98, r(2)(cv) = 0.859, Q = 0.794). The virtual molecular fragments that lead to a significant increase of the inhibitor activity of hCA IX are C(3)H(2)N(5)Cl, NH(2), C(6)H(4), C(3)H(5)N(6), COOH, and C(3)HN(6). The virtual fragment--HO, C(5)H(2)NO, C(3)HN(6), leads to a significant decrease of the inhibitor activity value. With a view to external validation, the calibration set includes 50 molecules (Se = 0.256, r(2) = 0.885, F = 69.501, r(2)(cv) = 0.852) and the validation set includes 16 molecules (Se = 0.111, r(2) = 0.87, F = 93.984). Identification of molecules in validation set with high estimated value of inhibitory activity of hCA IX is correct enough to have practical value, even if the calibration/validation set contains aromatic benzene sulfonamides incorporating 1,3,5-triazine moieties and fluor phenyl sulfamates derivatives with very different chemical structures.

TL;DR: In this article, the formation of silicon nanoclusters in pulsed laser deposited (PLD) silicon suboxide (SiO X ) films by thermal annealing is reported.
Abstract: Silicon nanoclusters formation in pulsed laser deposited (PLD) silicon suboxide (SiO X ) films by thermal annealing is reported. The SiO X films are prepared by ablation of silicon target at different oxygen partial pressures. The different deposition conditions are employed to study the effect of oxygen concentration on the size of the nanoclusters. Post deposition thermal annealing of the films leads to the phase separation in silicon suboxide films. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, micro-Raman spectroscopy and UV–vis absorption spectroscopy studies were carried out to characterize the formation of silicon nanoclusters in SiO X films.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors measured the excitation functions for the evaporation residues identified in the interaction of 16 O+ 55 Mn system with a view to study the complete and incomplete fusion reaction dynamics in heavy ion induced reactions.
Abstract: In this paper, we have made an attempt to measure the excitation functions for the evaporation residues identified in the interaction of 16 O+ 55 Mn system with a view to study the complete and incomplete fusion reaction dynamics in heavy ion induced reactions. The motivation of this experiment is to study the breakup of 16 O in reactions below 7 MeV/A and to compare the excitation functions for 12 C, 16 O and 20 Ne induced reactions with different targets leading to the same composite system ( 71 As in this case). PACE-4 and ALICE-91 have been used for the analysis with the same set of input parameters as those adopted in the case of 12 C+ 59 Co and 20 Ne+ 51 V systems. The measured excitation functions for a particular decay channel in the three cases (i.e. 12 C+ 59 Co, 16 O+ 55 Mn and 20 Ne+ 51 V) have been compared and found to obey Bohr′s assumption in case of complete fusion channels. The effects of Coulomb barrier and other entrance channel parameters are found to be quite significant in determining the decay mode of the composite system. Further the incomplete fusion dynamics is also observed to be of considerable importance in the present energy region.
