In-vitro antidermatophytic activity of essential oil of Psidium guajava (Linn.)

Abstract: Dermatophyte with the ability to digest keratine invade and therve on keratinized of human and animals. In the present study, the activity of essential oil of Psidium guajava (Linn.) was evaluated against four selected dermatophytes, namely Microsporiumcanis, Trichophytomruburum, T. verrucossum, T. tonsurans. Dermatophyteswere isolated with the infected skin, scalp, nail and genital organs of patients from districts hospital, Bareilly. Griseofulvin was used as a standard antifungal drug against the test dermatophytes. Oil was extracted through clevenger’s apparatus. Maximum inhibition zone was reported 69 mm against T. verrucossum followed by 60 mm Trichophytomruburum, 48 mm Trichophytomruburum and 45mm Microsporiumcanis. All five concentrations of oil showed excellent inhibitory effect against all test dermatophytes as compared to standard antifungal used.

Quantitative Separation of Pd(II) by TLC of Metal Ions on Cerium (IV) Antimonate

Abstract: A quantitative thin layer chromatographic (TLC) separation of metal ions using cerium (IV) antimonate as the solid phase are described. Using an acetonitrile- HNO/sub 3/ solvent Pd/sup 2 +/ can be separated quantitatively (2-10 ..mu..g) from several other ions. A quantitative spectrophotometric assay using p-nitroso-dimethylaniline is proposed. 7 references, 3 tables.

Some aneuploids in Indian charophyta

Abstract: SUMMARY Aneuploid chromosome numbers have been found in Indian material of Chara zeylanica var. zeylanica f. elegans (A.Br. & T.F.A.) Gr. & J.Gr. (n = 48) and Nitella acuminata var. acuminata f. belangari (A. Br.) R.D.W. (n = 29). The cytotaxonomy of the C. zeylanica complex has been discussed with reference to the antheridial scutae number. On karyotypic grounds N. acuminata f. belangari has been given the status of ‘variety’.
