TL;DR: This paper analyzes the gaps between theoretical and practical BIM application, as well as the legislation regarding BIM implementation in four countries (in alphabetical order: Croatia, the Czech Republic, Germany, and Slovenia).
Abstract: Building information modelling (BIM) may currently be considered the fastest developing concept in the field of construction management, aiming to become a global standard. Although the roots of the concept date back to the mid-1970s, some original expectations are still missing from its implementation. There has been a time gap between its theoretical and practical implementations. While the simultaneous development of information technologies is one reason for the implementation delay, other reasons remain unclear. This paper analyzes the gaps between theoretical and practical BIM application, as well as the legislation regarding BIM implementation in four countries (in alphabetical order: Croatia, the Czech Republic, Germany, and Slovenia). The paper additionally presents a survey of current practical BIM applications as well as general and theoretical feedback from construction projects that implemented BIM.

TL;DR: In this article, a high-resolution digital colour camera was used in combination with a telecentric-measuring objective for the determination of point coordinates of the measuring points in order to determine the crack geometry.
Abstract: With the measuring system it is possible to determine the crack geometry to specify fracture mechanics parameters in the post-process. Additionally a complete picture of the local deformations and the validity of a test can be increased clearly by the possibility of the varying number of discrete measuring points. Another advantage of this measuring method is the simultaneous determination of multi-axial strains without the interaction of applied measuring sensors. The measuring system for the contactless determination of coordinates of the measuring points consists of a high-resolution digital colour camera in combination with a telecentric-measuring objective. A measuring accuracy of few micrometers of the determination of point coordinates can be achieved. From present completed applications first crack resistance curves for notches and cross connections with mechanical fasteners could be determined. Further the distribution of strain in the range of the notch, particularly with the local registration of the change between tension and compression zone perpendicular to the grain could␣be measured in test series with notches of solid wood. The measurement results by the photogrammetry show a clear increase in significance of strain distributions compared with conventional methods and they are a first step to future measuring methods.

TL;DR: In this paper, a polynomial Appell basis of solutions to the Lame equation from linear elasticity is constructed using a closed form representation in terms of classical spherical harmonics and a recently developed spatial generalization of the Kolosov-Muskhelishvili formulae.
Abstract: In this paper recently studied orthogonal Appell bases of solid spherical monogenics in \({\mathbb{R}^3}\) are used to construct a polynomial basis of solutions to the Lame equation from linear elasticity. To this end, a compact closed form representation of the Appell basis elements in terms of classical spherical harmonics is proved and a recently developed spatial generalization of the Kolosov-Muskhelishvili formulae in terms of a monogenic and an anti-monogenic function is applied.

TL;DR: The results indicate that Multi-Ray Jumping decreases spatial confusion for passengers, increases planning accuracy for navigators, and reduces cognitive load for both.
Abstract: The collaborative exploration of virtual environments benefits from joint group navigation capabilities. In this paper, we focus on the design and evaluation of a short-range teleportation technique (jumping) for a group of collocated users wearing head-mounted displays. In a pilot study with expert users, we tested three naive group jumping approaches and derived the requirements for comprehensible group jumping. We propose a novel Multi-Ray Jumping technique to meet these requirements and report results of two formal user studies, one exploring the effects of passive jumping on simulator sickness symptoms $(N=20)$ and a second one investigating the advantages of our novel technique compared to naive group jumping $(N=22)$ . The results indicate that Multi-Ray Jumping decreases spatial confusion for passengers, increases planning accuracy for navigators, and reduces cognitive load for both.
