TL;DR: In this paper, a large volume, high-concentration, plane-defect-free, few-layer graphene dispersion is fast produced from graphite at high yield through ball milling.
Abstract: Due to low density, extremely high electrical and thermal conductivities, graphene has great potential to construct lightweight thermal conductive paper for high-power electric devices. However, the remarkable properties of graphene are on a molecular level and difficult to achieve when processed into macroscopic paper. Here, an effective route to construct ultrahigh conductive graphene paper is developed. First, large-volume, high-concentration, plane-defect-free, few-layer graphene dispersion is fast produced from graphite at high yield through ball milling. The exfoliated graphene dispersion is further processed into graphene paper through fast filtration, thermal treatment, and mechanical compression. The electrical and thermal conductivities of the resultant graphene paper are as high as 2231 S cm−1 and 1529 W m−1 K−1, superior to previously reported graphene papers. Structural analyses confirm that the ultrahigh conductivities are attributed to high quality of graphene sheets, their compact ordered stacking, and large graphitic crystalline domain size, which improve electron and phonon transport within basal plane of graphene sheet and between graphene sheets.

TL;DR: A modified floor field model is proposed to simulate pedestrian evacuation in rooms with internal obstacles and multiple exits and it is found that unfamiliarity with the room's inner configuration and blindly following others will lead to an increase of the evacuation time.
Abstract: A modified floor field model is proposed to simulate pedestrian evacuation in rooms with internal obstacles and multiple exits. The modifications lie in developing a method to calculate the static floor field for every lattice site, which is determined by the most feasible distance to an exit, and employing a logit-based discrete choice principle to govern the exit selection. Simulation results show that the evacuation time is sensitive to the exit position and some model parameters. For pedestrians unfamiliar with the exit location, additional doors may not be necessary and can cause a negative effect on evacuation time. It is also found that unfamiliarity with the room's inner configuration and blindly following others will lead to an increase of the evacuation time.

TL;DR: A decentralized adaptive backstepping control scheme is proposed for a class of interconnected nonlinear time-varying systems and it is shown that the tracking errors can converge to predefined arbitrarily small residual sets with prescribed convergence rate and maximum overshoot, independent of the parameters variation speed and the strength of interactions.

TL;DR: The organogel component can inhibit the ice crystallization of the hydrogel component, thus enhancing the mechanical stability of organohydrogel over a wide temperature range (−78 to 80 °C), and may have promising applications in complex and harsh environments.
Abstract: Many biological organisms with exceptional freezing tolerance can resist the damages to cells from extra-/intracellular ice crystals and thus maintain their mechanical stability at subzero temperatures. Inspired by the freezing tolerance mechanisms found in nature, here we report a strategy of combining hydrophilic/oleophilic heteronetworks to produce self-adaptive, freeze-tolerant and mechanically stable organohydrogels. The organohydrogels can simultaneously use water and oil as a dispersion medium, and quickly switch between hydrogel- and organogel-like behaviours in response to the nature of the surrounding phase. Accordingly, their surfaces display unusual adaptive dual superlyophobic in oil/water system (that is, they are superhydrophobic under oil and superoleophobic under water). Moreover, the organogel component can inhibit the ice crystallization of the hydrogel component, thus enhancing the mechanical stability of organohydrogel over a wide temperature range (-78 to 80 °C). The organohydrogels may have promising applications in complex and harsh environments.
