TL;DR: This paper investigates the precise and fast trajectory tracking control problem for the free-flying space manipulator, after capturing a space target with uncertain mass, and proves that the estimation error of ASMDO can be stabilized in finite-time, though the bound of the derivative of system uncertainty is unknown.
Abstract: The requirements for the control performances of space manipulators, especially for the stability and accuracy of the attitude control systems of the base spacecrafts, are ever increasing during the space target capturing tasks. However, the system uncertainties caused by parameter variations will degrade the system performances severely. This paper investigates the precise and fast trajectory tracking control problem for the free-flying space manipulator, after capturing a space target with uncertain mass. To compensate the system uncertainty with complex and uncertain dynamics, a novel adaptive sliding mode disturbance observer (ASMDO) is proposed. Then, a composite controller with prescribed transient and steady-state performances is developed. It is proved that the estimation error of ASMDO can be stabilized in finite-time, though the bound of the derivative of system uncertainty is unknown. Meanwhile, the trajectory tracking error can also be stabilized in finite-time and has preassigned maximum overshoot and steady-state error. Finally, numerical simulations and experimental studies are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of proposed methods.

TL;DR: The results uncover a hidden topological character of graphdiyne and promote it as a concrete material platform for exploring the intriguing physics of higher-order topological phases.
Abstract: A second-order topological insulator (SOTI) in d spatial dimensions features topologically protected gapless states at its (d-2)-dimensional boundary at the intersection of two crystal faces, but is gapped otherwise. As a novel topological state, it has been attracting great interest, but it remains a challenge to identify a realistic SOTI material in two dimensions (2D). Here, based on combined first-principles calculations and theoretical analysis, we reveal the already experimentally synthesized 2D material graphdiyne as the first realistic example of a 2D SOTI, with topologically protected 0D corner states. The role of crystalline symmetry, the robustness against symmetry breaking, and the possible experimental characterization are discussed. Our results uncover a hidden topological character of graphdiyne and promote it as a concrete material platform for exploring the intriguing physics of higher-order topological phases.

TL;DR: Ultralightweight silver nanowires (AgNWs) hybrid polyimide (PI) composite foams with microcellular structure and low density have been fabricated by a facile and effective one-pot liquid foaming process and far surpasses the best values of other composite materials.
Abstract: Ultralightweight silver nanowires (AgNWs) hybrid polyimide (PI) composite foams with microcellular structure and low density of 0.014–0.022 g/cm3 have been fabricated by a facile and effective one-pot liquid foaming process. The tension flow generated during the cell growth induced the uniform dispersion of AgNWs throughout the cell walls. The interconnected AgNWs network in the cell walls combined with the large 3D AgNWs network caused by 3D structure of foams provided fast electron transport channels inside foams. The electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding effectiveness (SE) of these foams increased with increasing AgNWs loading as well as the nanowire aspect ratio due to the increasing connections of the conduction AgNWs network. Appropriate surface treatment like etching or spraying facilitated the construction of the seamlessly interconnected 2D AgNWs network on the surface, which could effectively reflect electromagnetic waves. Maximum specific EMI SE of values of 1210 dB·g–1·cm3 at 200 MHz, 9...
