TL;DR: A new FREA is developed, ZITI, featuring an octacyclic dithienocyclopentaindenoindene central core, possessing an excellent compatibility with commercially available polymer donors and delivering very high power conversion efficiencies.
Abstract: Fused-ring electron acceptors (FREAs) have recently received intensive attention. Besides the continuing development of new FREAs, the demand for FREAs featuring good compatibility to donor materials is becoming more and more urgent, which is highly desirable for screening donor materials and achieving new breakthroughs. In this work, a new FREA is developed, ZITI, featuring an octacyclic dithienocyclopentaindenoindene central core. The core is designed by linking 2,7-dithienyl substituents and indenoindene with small methylene groups, in which the indeno[1,2-b]thiophene-2-(3-oxo-2,3-dihydro-1H-inden-1-ylidene)malononitrile part provides a large and unoccupied π-surface. Most notably, ZITI possesses an excellent compatibility with commercially available polymer donors, delivering very high power conversion efficiencies of over 13%.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe a convenient approach to fabricate superoleophobic surfaces through perfluorothiolate reaction on Cu(OH)2 nanostructure surfaces and investigate their possible application in oil droplet transportation.
Abstract: Controlling liquid adhesion is a fundamental issue in many applications for special wettable surfaces. Compared to superhydrophobic surfaces of different water adhesion, superoleophobic surfaces of controllable oil adhesion are much more practical, as it leads to non-wetting for both water and oil. However, previously the investigation for oil adhesion ability on superoleophobic surfaces in oil/air/solid system has been extremely rare. In this work, we describe a convenient approach to fabricate superoleophobic surfaces through perfluorothiolate reaction on Cu(OH)2 nanostructure surfaces and investigate their possible application in oil droplet transportation. The prepared surfaces exhibit controllable oil adhesive force depending on surface nanostructures or external preloads on the oil droplet. A model of the penetrating Cassie state is used to help analyze the unique phenomena on oil adhesion. Moreover, we provide a proof of demonstrate of oil transportation for application in oil-based microreactors via our surfaces. Our results give a useful attempt in understanding the fabrication principle of preparing superoleophobic surfaces with controllable oil adhesion.

Abstract: In the domain of manufacturing, computer numerically controllers (CNC) technology is a major contributor to the production capacity of the enterprises. The advances in CNC technology coupled with enhancements in computing systems have provided the basis to re-examine the way in which computer-aided systems (CAx) can be used to enable global manufacturing. Interoperability of the various components of the CAx chain is therefore a major prerequisite for manufacturing enterprises for becoming strategically agile and consequently globally competitive. Being interoperable, resources can be utilized interchangeably in a plug-and-produce manner. Over the last 8 years the eminence of a STEP standard for machining entitled STEP-NC (numerical control) has become a well-known vehicle for research to improve the level of information availability at the CNC machine tool. In this paper, the authors introduce the background to the evolution of CNC manufacturing over the last 50 years and the current standards available for programming. A review of the literature in interoperable CNC manufacturing is then provided relating to milling, turn-mill and other NC processes. The major part of the paper provides a strategic view of how interoperability can be implemented across the CAx chain with a range of standards used to regulate the flow of information. Finally, the paper outlines the advantages and major issues for future developments in interoperability, identifying future key requirements and limiting factors.
