TL;DR: A reliable and lightweight trust mechanism is originally proposed for IoT edge devices based on multi-source feedback information fusion based on objective information entropy theory, which can overcome the limitations of traditional trust schemes.
Abstract: The integration of Internet of Things (IoT) and edge computing is currently a new research hotspot. However, the lack of trust between IoT edge devices has hindered the universal acceptance of IoT edge computing as outsourced computing services. In order to increase the adoption of IoT edge computing applications, first, IoT edge computing architecture should establish efficient trust calculation mechanism to alleviate the concerns of numerous users. In this paper, a reliable and lightweight trust mechanism is originally proposed for IoT edge devices based on multi-source feedback information fusion. First, due to the multi-source feedback mechanism is used for global trust calculation, our trust calculation mechanism is more reliable against bad-mouthing attacks caused by malicious feedback providers. Then, we adopt lightweight trust evaluating mechanism for cooperations of IoT edge devices, which is suitable for large-scale IoT edge computing because it facilitates low-overhead trust computing algorithms. At the same time, we adopt a feedback information fusion algorithm based on objective information entropy theory, which can overcome the limitations of traditional trust schemes, whereby the trust factors are weighted manually or subjectively. And the experimental results show that the proposed trust calculation scheme significantly outperforms existing approaches in both computational efficiency and reliability.

TL;DR: In this article, the extinction ratio between ON state and OFF state for XOR, XNOR, NAND and OR gates are more than 28.6 dB, 28.4 dB, 25 dB, and 26.6dB in the whole C-band, respectively.
Abstract: We propose ultra compact all-optical XOR, XNOR, NAND and OR gates based on photonic crystal multi-mode interference waveguides for binary-phase-shift-keyed signals. The logic gates have been simulated and analyzed by finite difference time domain method. The extinction ratio between the ON state and the OFF state for XOR, XNOR, NAND and OR gates are more than 28.6 dB, 28.6 dB, 25 dB and 26.6 dB in the whole C-band, respectively. The proposed structure can achieve logical function when the radius of all rods is fabricated with relaxed error tolerance within −10% to 30% from designed parameters. The device possesses ultra compact size with approximately 6.9 μm×6.7 μm. The proposed logic gates may potentially be used as key components in all-optical information networks for processing binary-phase-shift-keyed signals.

TL;DR: This paper proposes to build a heterogeneous graph to explicitly model the interactions among users, news and latent topics and shows that the proposed model significantly outperforms state-of-the-art methods on news recommendation.
Abstract: With the information explosion of news articles, personalized news recommendation has become important for users to quickly find news that they are interested in. Existing methods on news recommendation mainly include collaborative filtering methods which rely on direct user-item interactions and content based methods which characterize the content of user reading history. Although these methods have achieved good performances, they still suffer from data sparse problem, since most of them fail to extensively exploit high-order structure information (similar users tend to read similar news articles) in news recommendation systems. In this paper, we propose to build a heterogeneous graph to explicitly model the interactions among users, news and latent topics. The incorporated topic information would help indicate a user’s interest and alleviate the sparsity of user-item interactions. Then we take advantage of graph neural networks to learn user and news representations that encode high-order structure information by propagating embeddings over the graph. The learned user embeddings with complete historic user clicks capture the users’ long-term interests. We also consider a user’s short-term interest using the recent reading history with an attention based LSTM model. Experimental results on real-world datasets show that our proposed model significantly outperforms state-of-the-art methods on news recommendation.

TL;DR: In this article, the phase shift control of solitons in dispersion-decreasing fiber can be achieved when the dispersion function is Gaussian one, which can attenuate the interactions between soliton and gives practical advantage in optical communication systems.
Abstract: Phase-shift controlling can attenuate the interactions between solitons and gives practical advantage in optical communication systems. For the variable-coefficient nonlinear Schrodinger equation, which can be imitated the transmission of solitons in the dispersion-decreasing fiber, analytic three solitons solutions are derived via the Hirota method. Based on the obtained solutions, influences of the second-order dispersion parameters and other related parameters in different function types on the soliton transmission are discussed. Results declare that phase-shift controlling of solitons in dispersion-decreasing fiber can be achieved when the dispersion function is Gaussian one. In addition, by adjusting the constraint value, propagation distance of solitons can be further extended. This may be useful in the optical logic devices and ultra-short pulse lasers.
