TL;DR: This paper proposes a coding scheme that has a relatively short coding length and low decoding complexity that is applied to a real-world vehicle scheduling problem of a bus line in Nanjing, China and is able to quickly produce satisfactory Pareto solutions that outperform the actually used experience-based solution.
Abstract: It is complex and difficult to perform the vehicle scheduling of urban bus lines, which is important to reduce the operational cost and improve the quality of public transportation services. One has to assign vehicles to cover a set of trips contained in a timetable while minimizing multiple objectives that may conflict with each other. Existing approaches combine these objectives in a weighted fashion to form a single objective and then use a single-objective optimization approach to solve it. However, they can only produce one solution, and it is not easy to assign a proper weight for each objective to obtain a superior solution that can balance different objectives. In this paper, a methodology is presented to create a set of Pareto solutions for this problem. First, a set of candidate vehicle blocks is generated. Then, multiple block subsets are selected from this candidate set by an improved multiobjective genetic algorithm combined with a departure-time adjustment procedure to obtain multiple Pareto solutions. To encode a solution, we propose a coding scheme that has a relatively short coding length and low decoding complexity. This approach is applied to a real-world vehicle scheduling problem of a bus line in Nanjing, China. Experiments show that this approach is able to quickly produce satisfactory Pareto solutions that outperform the actually used experience-based solution.

TL;DR: This paper decomposes the IoT into three layers, which are sensor layer, core layer and application layer, from aspects of network composition of IoT, and establishes a formal trust management control mechanism based on architecture modeling of IoT.
Abstract: Trust management has been proven to be a useful technology for providing security service and as a consequence has been used in many applications such as P2P, Grid, ad hoc network and so on. However, few researches about trust mechanism for Internet of Things (IoT) could be found in the literature, though we argue that considerable necessity is held for applying trust mechanism to IoT. In this paper, we establish a formal trust management control mechanism based on architecture modeling of IoT. We decompose the IoT into three layers, which are sensor layer, core layer and application layer, from aspects of network composition of IoT. Each layer is controlled by trust management for special purpose: self-organized, affective routing and multi-service respectively. And the final decision-making is performed by service requester according to the collected trust information as well as requester' policy. Finally, we use a formal semantics-based and fuzzy set theory to realize all above trust mechanism, the result of which provides a general framework for the development of trust models of IoT.

TL;DR: A low complexity distributed user association algorithm is developed for energy efficient fair user association while considering quality of service (QoS) provision for users and demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm in improving the energy efficiency and user fairness, compared to other user association algorithms.
Abstract: Massive multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) and heterogeneous networks (HetNets) have been recognized as key enabling technologies for future fifth generation (5G) mobile networks However, the circuit power consumption of massive MIMO scales with the tremendous number of antennas As a result, the problem of energy efficient user association in massive MIMO enabled HetNets is of vital importance We investigate the energy efficient user association problem in massive MIMO enabled HetNets, and formulate the network logarithmic utility maximization problem Based on the Lagrangian dual analysis, a low complexity distributed user association algorithm is developed for energy efficient fair user association while considering quality of service (QoS) provision for users Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm in improving the energy efficiency and user fairness, compared to other user association algorithms

TL;DR: In this article, the periodic attenuating oscillation of solitons for a higher-order variable coefficient nonlinear Schrodinger equation is investigated, and analytic one-and two-soliton solutions of this equation are obtained by the Hirota bilinear method.
Abstract: According to the change in the amplitude of the oscillation, it can be divided into equal-amplitude oscillation, amplitude-reduced oscillation (attenuating oscillation) and amplitude-increasing oscillation (divergence oscillation). In this paper, the periodic attenuating oscillation of solitons for a higher-order variable coefficient nonlinear Schrodinger equation is investigated. Analytic one- and two-soliton solutions of this equation are obtained by the Hirota bilinear method. By analyzing the soliton propagation properties, we study how to choose the corresponding parameters to control the soliton propagation and periodic attenuation oscillation phenomena. Results might be of significance for the study of optical communications including soliton control, amplification, compression and interactions.
