TL;DR: The adverse geological conditions frequently encountered during TBM tunnelling present great challenges, and may trigger potential hazards if no precaution and treatment measures are taken as discussed by the authors, and comprehensive studies on adverse conditions are essential and critical to successful TBM Tunnelling.

TL;DR: In this paper, the concept of Wisdom Web of Things (W2T) is proposed to realize the harmonious symbiosis of humans, computers, and things in the emerging hyper world.
Abstract: The rapid development of the Internet and the Internet of Things accelerates the emergence of the hyper world. It has become a pressing research issue to realize the organic amalgamation and harmonious symbiosis among humans, computers, and things in the hyper world, which consists of the social world, the physical world, and the information world (cyber world). In this paper, the notion of Wisdom Web of Things (W2T) is proposed in order to address this issue. As inspired by the material cycle in the physical world, the W2T focuses on the data cycle, namely "from things to data, information, knowledge, wisdom, services, humans, and then back to things." A W2T data cycle system is designed to implement such a cycle, which is, technologically speaking, a practical way to realize the harmonious symbiosis of humans, computers, and things in the emerging hyper world.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors reviewed the history of renewable energy development in the BRICS countries and proposed a financial citizen participation model to finance renewable energy infrastructure through equity and a regional reserve ratio monetary policy to allow regions to develop renewable energy.
Abstract: This paper reviews the history of renewable energy development in the BRICS countries. The financing models for renewable energy development of BRICS countries include bank financing, institutional loans, industry funds, and international financing. This paper identified several problems with financing in BRICS countries, including a lack of financing channels, investment shortage for small and medium-sized enterprises and imperfect government policies. The solutions to these problems include expanded capital markets, the financing of leasing services, and build-operate-transfer and build-own-operate projects; further, a financial citizen participation model should be employed similar to that as Germany and European Union emissions trading system (EU ETS). A financial citizen participation model means that legal entities, private individuals, and agricultural enterprises invest in renewable energy infrastructure through equity. A regional reserve ratio monetary policy is suggested to allow regions to develop renewable energy.

TL;DR: In this paper, the photocatalysis of nitrogen-doped SrTiO 3 powders under the irradiation of wavelength λ >400 nm and near ultraviolet light regions (λ >290 nm) greatly changed depending on particle size, specific surface area and porosity.
Abstract: Nitrogen doped SrTiO 3 powders were prepared by the mechanochemical reaction of SrTiO 3 and 20 wt.% of three kinds of doping sources, hexamethylenetetramine, urea, and ammonium carbonate using a high energy planetary ball mill, followed by calcination at 400 °C for 1 h. The photocatalysis of nitrogen doped SrTiO 3 powders under the irradiation of wavelength λ >400 nm and near ultraviolet light regions ( λ >290 nm) greatly changed depending on particle size, specific surface area and porosity. The absorption of visible light increased with increasing nitrogen content doped in SrTiO 3 lattice. Nitrogen monoxide elimination ability of SrTiO 3 could be greatly improved by nitrogen doping. The photocatalytic activity of nitrogen doped SrTiO 3 made by 20 wt.% hexamethylenetetramine-SrTiO 3 under light λ >400 nm irradiation was about 3.5 and 1.4 times higher than those of pure SrTiO 3 and commercial titania powder (Degussa P-25).
