TL;DR: Nursing care for newly diagnosed breast cancer patients in Dutch hospitals needs improvement, especially in the outpatient setting, according to a questionnaire sent to the surgical nursing teams in all 120 Dutch hospitals.
Abstract: This study aimed to assess nurses' involvement in the supportive care of patients with recently diagnosed breast cancer in Dutch hospitals. A questionnaire used to evaluate various aspects of nursing care for breast cancer patients was sent to the surgical nursing teams in all 120 Dutch hospitals that provide surgical treatment for these patients. Nursing care was defined to be optimal if it met the following criteria: (a) Specialized nursing support is provided to all patients during admission and in the outpatient departments both before and after surgery. (b) A protocol is in place outlining standard nursing procedures for breast cancer patients. (c) Formal communication about each breast cancer patient exists between the nurses involved. On the basis of this definition, it was found that optimal nursing care was provided in only 6% of the hospitals. Nursing care fell short mainly in the outpatient setting. This shortcoming also was recognized by most respondents, and many were already planning improvements. Nurses had varying opinions about their responsibility to provide the patient with information about the disease and its treatment, and consensus was lacking. In summary, nursing care for newly diagnosed breast cancer patients in Dutch hospitals needs improvement, especially in the outpatient setting.

TL;DR: The results indicate that nystatin, ketoconazole and fluconazole are the drugs of choice for the therapy of vaginal candidiasis in this region.
Abstract: Introduction : Vaginal candidiasis is considered as an important public health problem worldwide and its incidence has increased nowadays. In recent years, inappropriate and disproportionate use of antifungal drugs, automedication as well as non compliance have caused drug resistance. Methods : This study aimed at determining the in vitro antifungal susceptibility patterns of Candida speciesisolated from female genital tract at Yaounde Bethesda Hospital in Cameroon. Two hundred and fourthy five women (age range: 15 years to 49 years) attending the hospital were recruited between January and June 2014 in this cross sectional study. Vaginal smears were collected using sterile swabs from each participant and cultured on sabouraud dextrose agar supplemented with chloramphenico l 0.5%; identification of Candida spp . was performed following standard methods. The disk diffusion method was used for antifungal susceptibility testing. Results : Out of the 245 vaginal smears collected, 94 (38.4%) strains of yeast were isolates among which 43 (45.7%) were Candida albicans and 51 (54.3%) were non albicans. The highest susceptibility of the isolates was seen for nystatin 62 (83.78%), ketoconazole 61 (82.43%) and fluconazole 60 (81.08%). Conclusion : Despite the noticeable resistance of Candida spp . isolates to miconazole and itraconazole, the results indicate that nystatin, ketoconazole and fluconazole are the drugs of choice for the therapy of vaginal candidiasis in this region.

TL;DR: In this paper, a 40-year-old male presented lack of concentration, sluggish mind, and forgetfulness, and non-contrast MSCT scan confirmed multifocal lacunar cerebral infarction on the left lateral ventricle.
Abstract: Background. Stroke is a rare complication of COVID-19. Post-COVID-19 stroke occurs mainly in older patients who have preexisting vascular risk factors. Most strokes are possibly related to hypercoagulability associated with COVID-19 where elevated D-dimer levels were the most common finding. In this case, post-COVID-19 ischemic stroke occurred in a relatively young patient without preexisting cerebrovascular risk factors which were rarely reported before. Case Presentation. A 40-year-old male presented lack of concentration, sluggish mind, and forgetfulness. The patient has a positive COVID-19 history 5 weeks ago. The noncontrast MSCT scan confirmed multifocal lacunar cerebral infarction on the left lateral ventricle. Laboratory tests showed an increase in D-dimer of 1.22 g/ml. Conclusion. In COVID-19 patients without comorbidities, ischemic stroke should be considered.

TL;DR: Assessments of consecutive adult admissions during a six-month period to the Accident and Emergency Department of Royal Melbourne Hospital within two days of being injured in a motor vehicle accident identify the necessity of investigating and implementing methods of detecting and treating the many who apparently sustain significant psychological sequelae following injury in aMotor vehicle accident.
Abstract: This paper examines the need for a systematic way of detecting individuals likely toencounter moderate to severe psychological sequelae after being injured in a motorvehicle accident. It presents the findings of assessments of consecutive adult admissionsduring a six-month period to the Accident and Emergency Department of RoyalMelbourne Hospital, a major acute hospital in Melbourne, within two days of beinginjured in a motor vehicle accident. Seventy of the 250 subjects surveyed completedthe General Health Questionnaire 12 and the Impact of Event Scale questionnaire, with 77- per cent found likely to have had a psychiatric disorder. Seventy-four per centhad at least moderate levels of intrusion or avoidance phenomena. Forty-four per centhad severe levels of one or the other. Prevalence of these psychological sequelae wasgreater than that found in several recent studies on the effects of motor vehicleaccidents.A small number (11?15- per cent) sought or received professional counselling withinthe first three months. This group did not differ, according to levels of intrusion, avoidance, or scores on the GHQ 12, to subjects who did not seek or receive suchassistance. Results identify the necessity of investigating and implementing methodsof detecting and treating the many who apparently sustain significant psychologicalsequelae following injury in a motor vehicle accident.
