TL;DR: In this article, a regenerative coke oven battery that produces a coke cake having a low vertical temperature differential throughout its mass is defined by header walls having ducts for air or lean gas and outlets incorporated along the vertical length of the header wall which slots connect the ducts with the flues.
Abstract: A regenerative coke oven battery that produces a coke cake having a low vertical temperature differential throughout its mass. The heating flues are defined by header walls having ducts for air or lean gas and outlet slots incorporated along the vertical length of the header wall which slots connect the ducts with the flues. The flues are combined into groups connected at their upper ends with a horizontal bus channel which communicates by a cross-over duct with a similar horizontal bus channel on the opposite side of a coking chamber.

TL;DR: In this article, a light operative apparatus is located inside electro-optical instrument viewing window, such as that used by a radiation pyrometer or dimensional gage in a steel mill environment, to detect and compensate for optically attenuating objects which may accumulate on the outside surface of the viewing window.
Abstract: Light operative apparatus is located inside electro-optical instrument viewing window, such as that used by a radiation pyrometer or dimensional gage in a steel mill environment, to detect and compensate for optically attenuating objects which may accumulate on the outside surface of the viewing window. Light beam irradiates viewing window from inside and optics collects light radiation backscatter which varies as a function of light-scattering attenuating objects that have accumulated on the viewing window outside surface. A light backscatter detector feeds display, alarm and instrument compensation functions.

TL;DR: In this paper, a transducer assembly and a system application where the transducers may be used in the inspection of iron, steel, aluminum, as well as plastic materials as a homogeneous object in the form of a sheet, slab or bloom are described.
Abstract: A transducer assembly and a system application wherein said transducer assembly may be used in the inspection of iron, steel, aluminum, as well as plastic materials as a homogeneous object in the form of a sheet, slab or bloom. Inspection is through use of ultrasonic acoustic energy propagated through ambient air. A coupling medium in the form of matching layers efficiently couple the transducer assembly to the ambient air.

TL;DR: In this paper, a process for producing mineral wool having a chemical composition comprised of between about 50 and 70 weight percent silica plus alumina, about 20 and 35 weight percent lime plug magnesia and about 5 and 15 weight percent iron oxides is described.
Abstract: A process for producing mineral wool having a chemical composition comprised of between about 50 and 70 weight percent silica plus alumina, about 20 and 35 weight percent lime plug magnesia and about 5 and 15 weight percent iron oxides is described. The process includes feeding a first particulate waste material having a particle size of 100 weight percent -200 mesh and containing organic combustibles having heating values of about 10 mega J per kilogram of slag and inorganic non-combustibles, a second particulate waste material having a particle size of 100 weight percent -200 mesh and containing fluxstone, and preheated air at a velocity of between about 30 meters to 60 meters per second at a temperature of about 500° C. into a high temperature cyclone-like furnace. The combustibles are substantially instantaneously burned and the non-combustibles and the fluxstone are melted and reacted to form a molten slag which can be fiberized into mineral wool.

TL;DR: The method of forming said articles including coating the opposite surfaces of the sheet steel with metallic coatings having differing lubricity, drawing the coated sheet into a preform and ironing the preform as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: Sheet steel having differentially coated surfaces of corrosion-resistant metal for use in drawing and ironing seamless articles and the method of forming said articles including coating the opposite surfaces of the sheet steel with metallic coatings having differing lubricity, drawing the coated sheet into a preform and ironing the preform.
