TL;DR: Of all the different water and hydrothermal treatments studied autoclaving seemed to be the most efficient method in improving IVPD and eliminating the antinutrients investigated except phytic acid.
Abstract: Effects of soaking, cooking and autoclaving on changes in polyphenols, phytohaemagglutinating activity, phytic acid, hydrogen cyanide (HCN), oligosaccharides and in vitro protein digestibility were investigated in seeds ofDolichos lablab var.vulgaris. Both distilled water and NaHCO3 solution soaking and autoclaving significantly reduced the contents of total free phenolics (85–88%) compared to raw seeds. Autoclaving (45 min) reduced the content of tannins by upto 72%. Soaking seemed to have limited effect in eliminating phytohaemagglutinating activity, whereas autoclaving (45 min) seemed to eliminate the haemagglutinating activity completely. The reduction in content of phytic acid was found to be some what greater in distilled water soaking (28%) compared to NaHCO3 solution soaking (22%). Only a limited loss in content of phytic acid was observed under cooking as well as autoclaving. Loss of HCN was greater under autoclaving (87%) compared to the other processes studied. Of the three sugars analysed, soaking reduced the level of verbascose more than that of stachyose and raffinose. Autoclaving reduced the content of oligosaccharides more efficiently (67–86%) than ordinary cooking (53–76%). Autoclaving improved the in vitro protein digestibility (IVPD) significantly (13%). Of all the different water and hydrothermal treatments studied autoclaving seemed to be the most efficient method in improving IVPD and eliminating the antinutrients investigated except phytic acid.

TL;DR: Carbon prepared from peanut hulls (PHC) has been used for the adsorption of Pb(II) over a range of initial metal ion concentrations (10−20 mg/L), agitation times (5−140 minutes), adsorbent dosages (5 −100 mg/100 mL), and pH values (1.5−10.0) as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: Carbon prepared from peanut hulls (PHC) has been used for the adsorption of Pb(II) over a range of initial metal ion concentrations (10–20 mg/L), agitation times (5–140 minutes), adsorbent dosages (5–100 mg/100 mL), and pH values (1.5–10.0). Adsorption of Pb(II) obeyed the Langmuir isotherm. The applicability of the Lagergren kinetic model has also been investigated. Quantitative removal of 20 mg/L Pb(II) by 0.3 g carbon per liter aqueous solution was observed in the pH range of 3.0 to 10.0. A comparative study with a coal-based commercial granular activated carbon (CAC) showed that the adsorption capacity of PHC was 18 times larger than that of CAC.

TL;DR: The effects of formaldehyde fumigation and pesticide drenching with Bavistin, Cuman, Copperthom, Sulfex, Furadon, and Termix at recommended rates on vesicular-arbuscular mycorrhizal (VAM) colonisation and Rhizobium sp.
Abstract: The effects of formaldehyde fumigation and pesticide drenching with Bavistin, Cuman, Copperthom, Sulfex, Furadon, and Termix at recommended rates on vesicular-arbuscular mycorrhizal (VAM) colonisation and Rhizobium sp. nodules were assessed regularly for a period of 90 days in the legumes Cajanus cajan, Dolichos biflorus, Vigna mungo, and V. unguiculata under field conditions. The fumigant and the pesticides initially reduced VAM fungal colonisation and the number of spores in all plants. Following the initial decrease there was a slow recovery, but by 90 days after emergence, root colonisation was either parallel to or still lower than the control, and the number of spores was still well below control levels for all species except C. cajan, which had more VAM spores than the control in all treatments except fumigation and Furadon. Although the number of nodules did not differ from control levels at 30 days after emergence, differences were evident during the later stages of plant growth for all species except V. unguiculata. The effect of pesticides on VAM fungi and root nodulation varied with the associated host plant species. Plant tissue P and VAM colonisation were significantly correlated in all host plants. The pesticide treatments had no marked effect on plant growth, but accumulations of nutrients in pesticide-treated plants were lower than those in untreated plants. Growth and nutrient status of the legumes varied with VAM fungal colonisation.

TL;DR: In this paper, metal hydrazidocarboxylate hydrazinates, M1/3Co2/3(N2H3COO)2(N 2H4)2, where M = Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Zn and Cd, have been prepared and characterized by chemical analyses and infrared spectra.
Abstract: Metal hydrazidocarboxylate hydrazinates, M1/3Co2/3(N2H3COO)2(N2H4)2, where M = Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Zn and Cd, have been prepared and characterized by chemical analyses and infrared spectra. The thermoanalytical properties of these complexes have been investigated using TG and DTA. The complexes decompose in air below 300°C to yield metal cobaltites, MCo2O4. The decomposition behaviour was autocatalytic. Formation of cobaltites has been confirmed by thermogravimetry weight loss, infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction.

TL;DR: In this article, analytical, spectral and thermal properties of bidentate hydrazinium and maleate/fumarate dianions were investigated. But the bonding of the hydrazine and maleates/fumarates to the metal ion was not investigated.
Abstract: Hydrazinium hydrogenmaleate (HHM) and hydrogenfumarate (HHF) have been prepared and characterized by analytical, spectral and thermal studies.Bis-hydrazine metal maleates and fumarates of the general formula MX(N2H4)2, where M=Co, Ni or Zn and X=maleate or fumarate have been prepared by the reaction of corresponding metal nitrate hydrates with a mixture of maleic or fumaric acid (1 part) and hydrazine hydrate (4 parts). Electronic spectra and magnetic susceptibility measurements indicate that all are high-spin octahedral complexes. The IR data show that the bonding of the hydrazine and maleate/fumarate dianion to the metal ion is bidentate. Thermal decomposition studies show that the simple hydrazinium salts undergo melting followed by endothermic decomposition into gaseous products, whereas the metal complexes undergo violent exothermic decomposition to give either metal or metal oxide as the final product.

TL;DR: In both types of cataractous lenses an increased concentration of G-6-PD was observed in 41-50 year age groups and a lower concentration was noted in 61 year and above age groups.
Abstract: The study was undertaken to determine the different concentrations of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G-6-PD) in anterior subcapsular and mixed cataractous lenses. In both types of cataractous lenses an increased concentration of G-6-PD was observed in 41-50 year age groups and a lower concentration of G-6-PD was noted in 61 year and above age groups. Cataractous lenses of females have a higher content of G-6-PD than males. In anterior subcapsular cataractous lenses, a lower concentration of G-6-PD was noted than in mixed lenses.
