01 Jan 2005TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used the shift-invariant dyadic discrete-time wavelet transform decomposition for pilot estimation and Wiener filtering with hybrid thresholding for suppression of parasitic EMG signals.
Abstract: The aim of this study is suppression of parasite electromyographic (EMG) signals (myopotentials) included in ECG signals with use of the Wiener filtering in shift-invariant wavelet domain with pilot estimation of the signal. The wavelet filtering with hybrid thresholding was used for pilot estimation. The four-levels shift-invariant dyadic discrete-time wavelet transform decomposition was used for both main blocks of pilot estimation and Wiener filtering. Sampling frequency of used signals was 500 Hz. The testing set have included signals with small waves Q, high R waves and significant variations of precipitousness in onsets and offsets of QRS complexes. These signals were additionally noised by normal distribution noise its power spectrum was adjusted according to typical form of power spectrum of EMG signals

TL;DR: Electrospinning as a versatile technique producing nanofibers was employed to study the influence of the processing parameters and chemical and physical parameters of solutions on poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) fibers’ morphology, crystallinity, phase composition and dielectric and piezoelectric characteristics.
Abstract: Electrospinning as a versatile technique producing nanofibers was employed to study the influence of the processing parameters and chemical and physical parameters of solutions on poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) fibers’ morphology, crystallinity, phase composition and dielectric and piezoelectric characteristics PVDF fibrous layers with nano- and micro-sized fiber diameters were prepared by a controlled and reliable electrospinning process The fibers with diameters from 276 nm to 1392 nm were spun at a voltage of 25 kV–50 kV from the pure PVDF solutions or in the presence of a surfactant—Hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) Although the presence of the CTAB decreased the fibers’ diameter and increased the electroactive phase content, the piezoelectric performance of the PVDF material was evidently deteriorated The maximum piezoelectric activity was achieved in the fibrous PVDF material without the use of the surfactant, when a piezoelectric charge of 33 pC N−1 was measured in the transversal direction on a mean fiber diameter of 649 nm In this direction, the material showed a higher piezoelectric activity than in the longitudinal direction

TL;DR: This work describes how various incrementally refinable abstractions on finite (word and tree) automata can be used for verification of programs manipulating tree-like dynamic data structures and illustrates the efficiency of abstract regular (tree) model checking in verification of simple systems with various sources of infinity.
Abstract: Regular model checking is a generic technique for verification of infinite-state and/or parametrised systems which uses finite word automata or finite tree automata to finitely represent potentially infinite sets of reachable configurations of the systems being verified. The problems addressed by regular model checking are typically undecidable. In order to facilitate termination in as many cases as possible, acceleration is needed in the incremental computation of the set of reachable configurations in regular model checking. In this work, we describe how various incrementally refinable abstractions on finite (word and tree) automata can be used for this purpose. Moreover, the use of abstraction does not only increase chances of the technique to terminate, but it also significantly reduces the problem of an explosion in the number of states of the automata that are generated by regular model checking. We illustrate the efficiency of abstract regular (tree) model checking in verification of simple systems with various sources of infinity such as unbounded counters, queues, stacks, and parameters. We then show how abstract regular tree model checking can be used for verification of programs manipulating tree-like dynamic data structures. Even more complex data structures can be handled using a suitable tree-like encoding.

TL;DR: The various diseases, which might influence functionality of the fingerprint-based systems, are introduced, mainly from the medical point of view and some examples of diseased finger fingerprints, acquired both from dactyloscopic card and electronic sensors are presented.
Abstract: There are many people who suffer from some of the skin diseases. These diseases have a strong influence on the process of fingerprint recognition. People with fingerprint diseases are unable to use fingerprint scanners, which is discriminating for them, since they are not allowed to use their fingerprints for the authentication purposes. First in this paper the various diseases, which might influence functionality of the fingerprint-based systems, are introduced, mainly from the medical point of view. This overview is followed by some examples of diseased finger fingerprints, acquired both from dactyloscopic card and electronic sensors. At the end of this paper the proposed fingerprint image enhancement algorithm is described.
