TL;DR: In this paper, anomalous top quark-antiquark production is studied based on pp collisions at 8 TeV. The observed ttbar invariant mass spectrum is found to be compatible with the standard model prediction.
Abstract: Searches for anomalous top quark-antiquark production are presented, based on pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 8 TeV. The data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 inverse femtobarns, were collected with the CMS detector at the LHC. The observed ttbar invariant mass spectrum is found to be compatible with the standard model prediction. Limits on the production cross section times branching fraction probe, for the first time, a region of parameter space for certain models of new physics not yet constrained by precision measurements.

TL;DR: This is the first detailed profiling of a new type of propolis, rich in diterpenes, which could be very useful for rapid GC-MS profiling of this propolis type and for revealing its plant sources.
Abstract: The objective of this work is to analyze and identify the diterpene compounds in Mediterranean propolis samples from different Greek regions by GC-MS. The chemical composition of six propolis samples was established using previously isolated diterpenes from Cretan propolis as authentic standards for identification, based on mass spectral fragmentation of the TMS derivatives and retention index. More than 30 diterpenes, among which were new propolis constituents, were identified and characterized by means of authentic standards and interpretation of MS fragmentation as well. This is the first detailed profiling of a new type of propolis, rich in diterpenes. The chromatographic and mass- spectral characteristics of the diterpenes identified could be very useful for rapid GC-MS profiling of this propolis type and for revealing its plant sources.

TL;DR: In this article, a nominal composition Na2/3MnO2 was prepared by solid state reaction between Na2CO3 and MnCO3 at 1000°C, and the composition and structure of NaxMnNO2 were controlled by the rate of cooling from the temperature of preparation; the overstoichiometric Mn4+ ions were accommodated in the hexagonal modification by creating of vacancies in the MnO2 layers.

TL;DR: The protamine to histone replacement in fertilized mouse eggs was studied by using antibodies to these proteins to find that protamines were replaced by histones before the onset of DNA replication.
Abstract: The protamine to histone replacement in fertilized mouse eggs was studied by using antibodies to these proteins. Its course was followed with respect to DNA replication by autoradiography of 3H-thymidine-labeled fertilized eggs. It was found that protamines were replaced by histones before the onset of DNA replication.

TL;DR: The evaluation exercise has highlighted some difficulties in assessing definition questions and can be improved in the future, but the overall analysis of submissions shows encouraging results as mentioned in this paper. But the evaluation process has been criticised in the past.
Abstract: Following the pilot Question Answering Track at CLEF 2003, a new evaluation exercise for multilingual QA systems took place in 2004. This paper reports on the novelties introduced in the new campaign and on participants' results. Almost all the cross-language combinations between nine source languages and seven target languages were exploited to set up more than fifty different tasks, both monolingual and bilingual. New types of questions (How- questions and definition questions) were given as input to the participating systems, while just one exact answer per question was allowed as output. The evaluation exercise has highlighted some difficulties in assessing definition questions and can be improved in the future, but the overall analysis of submissions shows encouraging results.
