19 Jun 2014TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present cathode formulations comprising a lithium ion-based electroactive material, and a carbon black, in which the carbon black is selected from one of the following: (i) a carbon-black having an OAN ranging from 100 to 250 mL/100 g and a crystallite size (La) of at least 30 A, as determined by Raman spectroscopy; (ii) a Carbon-black with OAN of 100 to 300mL/100g and a surface energy of less than or equal to 10 mJ/m2
Abstract: Disclosed herein are cathode formulations comprising a lithium ion-based electroactive material, and a carbon black, in which the carbon black is selected from one of: (i) a carbon black having an OAN ranging from 100 to 250 mL/100 g and a crystallite size (La) of at least 30 A, as determined by Raman spectroscopy; (ii) a carbon black having an OAN ranging from 100 to 300 mL/100 g and a surface energy of less than or equal to 10 mJ/m2; and (iii) a carbon black having an OAN ranging from 100 to 300 mL/100 g and a crystallite size (La) of at least 35 A, as determined by Raman spectroscopy. Also disclosed are cathodes comprising the cathode formulations, electrochemical cells comprising the cathodes, and methods of making the cathode formulations and cathodes.

23 Jun 2005TL;DR: In this paper, a two-step milling process was used to mill tantalum particles into tantalum flake powder having flakes of the desired thickness, which can then be pressed and sintered to form an anode.
Abstract: Methods of maximizing a tantalum capacitor's capacitance are disclosed, as well as tantalum flake powder and anodes. A two step milling process can be used to mill tantalum particles into tantalum flake powder having flakes of the desired thickness. This flake powder can then be pressed and sintered thereby forming an anode. Other flake capacitance methods and products are also described.

31 May 2007TL;DR: In this paper, a system and a method for ink-jet printing a solderable conductive pad onto a substrate is described, which comprises at least one print head and a curing station for curing an ink deposited onto the substrate.
Abstract: A system and a method are provided for ink-jet printing a solderable conductive pad onto a substrate. The system comprises at least one print head and a curing station for curing an ink deposited onto the substrate. The system is configured to: deposit at least a first layer of a first ink onto the substrate; cure the first layer of the first ink; deposit at least an intermediate layer of a second ink on top of the cured first layer of the first ink; cure the intermediate layer of the second ink; deposit at least a last layer of the first ink on top of the cured intermediate layer of the second ink; and cure the last layer of the first ink. The first ink has a relatively high conductivity. The second ink has a relatively low conductivity. The first layer, the intermediate layer, and the last layer may be arranged such that when solder is applied to the last layer, the solder is prevented from leaching through to the first layer.
