11 May 2007TL;DR: In this article, a toner composition comprising toner particles and composite metal oxide particles comprising a core consisting of a first metal oxide and a coating consisting of another metal oxide is presented.
Abstract: The invention provides a toner composition comprising toner particles and composite metal oxide particles comprising a core consisting of a first metal oxide and a coating consisting of a second metal oxide. The core is substantially spherical and non-aggregated. The invention also provides a method for the preparation of a toner composition.

16 Sep 2010TL;DR: In this paper, a wet mix elastomer composite comprising carbon black dispersed in an elastic including a blend of a natural rubber and styrene-butadiene rubber was processed with Comparative CTV Method 1.
Abstract: A wet mix elastomer composite comprising carbon black dispersed in an elastomer including a blend of a natural rubber and styrene-butadiene rubber. When the wet mix elastomer composite is processed with CTV Method 1, the vulcanized wet mix elastomer composite exhibits a resistivity that A) has a natural logarithm satisfying the equation 1n(resistivity) ≥ -0.1(loading) + x, where x is 14, or B) is at least 2.9 times greater than the resistivity of a vulcanized dry mix elastomer composite having the same composition and prepared using Comparative CTV Method 1.

02 Mar 2012TL;DR: In this article, a functionalized elastomer and at least one modified filler which has adsorbed and/or attached chemical groups, such as a triazole or pyrazole thereon, are described.
Abstract: Elastomeric compositions are described which have at least one functionalized elastomer and at least one modified filler which has adsorbed and/or attached chemical groups, such as a triazole and/or pyrazole thereon, orother modified fillers which are also described. Methods are further described to improve hysteresis and/or abrasion resistance in elastomeric compositions containing a functionalized elastomer using the modified fillers of the present invention.

17 Apr 1998TL;DR: In this paper, a method of making an aggregate comprising at least a carbon phase and a silicon-containing species phase is presented, where the first and second feedstock comprises a carbon black-yielding feedstock, and at least one feedstock also comprises a silicon containing compound.
Abstract: A method of making an aggregate comprising at least a carbon phase and a silicon-containing species phase is disclosed. The method involves introducing a first feedstock into a first stage (9) of a multi-stage reactor, and introducing a second feedstock into the reactor at a location (10) downstream of the first stage. The first and second feedstock comprise a carbon black-yielding feedstock, and at least one feedstock also comprises a silicon-containing compound. The reactor is operated at a sufficient temperature to decompose the silicon-containing compound and to pyrolize the carbon black-yielding feedstock. An additional method is disclosed which involves making an aggregate comprising a carbon phase and a silicon-containing species phase using multi-stage reactor having at least three stages for introducing a feedstock, wherein at least one of the feedstocks comprises a carbon black-yielding feedstock and wherein at least one of the feedstocks comprises a silicon-containing compound. Besides producing the aggregate comprising a carbon phase and a silicon-containing species phase, silica and/or carbon black may also result from the processes of the present invention. A further method is disclosed which involves making an aggregate comprising a carbon phase and a metal-containing species phase using a multi-stage reactor having at least two stages for introducing feedstocks, wherein at least one of the feedstocks comprises a carbon black-yielding feedstock and where at least one of the feedstocks comprises a metal-containing compound. The aggregates of the present invention when incorporated into elastomeric compositions preferably lead to improved wet skid resistance and rolling resistance properties.
