Abstract: The oxidation of organic hydrocarbons by oxygen atom transfer from metal oxo complexes has been well studied, and numerous methods of epoxidation by oxo transfer are routinely utilized in organic synthesis. 2] In contrast to oxygen atom transfer, methods for transferring nitrogen atoms to organic substrates are not as well-developed. Such methods would be of great utility owing to the value of the anticipated end products (e.g. aziridines) and the potential for using N2 as the nitrogen atom source. [4]

Abstract: Parts are formed from metal powder by mixing the powder with a plastic medium comprising an organic binder dissolved in a solvent in which it is soluble at room temperature but in which it is substantially less soluble at a higher temperature such that the plastic binder becomes viscous at that temperature. Binder modifiers may be incorporated to promote mold release and promote healing of interfaces within the molded part and prevent the formation of drying cracks. The plastic mixture is injected under pressure into a closed die preheated to the above mentioned higher temperature, whereby the rejection of solvent and increase in viscosity of the plastic medium produces a compact sufficiently self-supporting to hold its molded shape and be ejected from the die. The compact is then dried to evaporate the remaining solvent, thus leaving interconnecting pores in the compact for the escape of gases resulting from subsequent burning out of the binder during the sintering operation.

Abstract: A new technique is described for following the effects of successive increments of oxidative attack upon the same particles of carbon black. Oxidation was carried out under controlled conditions outside of the microscope, followed by electron micrography of selected grid areas. Electron micrographs show that normal thermal and furnace blacks generally oxidize from the inside out, forming capsules of unchanged external dimensions. Differences in rate of oxidation of individual particles are observed with thermal blacks; these rates are, however, independent of particle size. In agreement with earlier evidence, graphitized thermal blacks oxidize from the outside in. Strong support is given for a new “concentric crystallite” model of carbon black microstructure. On the basis of this model, slippage of rubber molecules on the surface of carbon black can be readily understood.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for making a printed circuit board comprising a substrate and an electrical circuit is provided. The circuit is formed by deposition of a plurality of electronic inks onto the substrate and curing of each of the electronic inks. The deposition may be performed using an ink-jet printing process. The inkjet printing process may include the step of printing a plurality of layers, wherein a first layer includes at least one electronic ink deposited directly onto the substrate, and wherein each subsequent layer includes at least one electronic ink deposited on top of at least a portion of a previous layer when the previous layer has been cured. One or more of the layers may include at least two of the electronic inks.
