TL;DR: In this paper, the deactivation of ferric molybdate catalysts was investigated in a differential reactor, where commercial catalysts were pretreated in air at 600 to 700 °C for between 1 and 2.5 h and characterized for catalytic activity in formaldehyde synthesis and for physical and chemical properties.

26 Aug 1995TL;DR: A uniform suspension of ceramic powder and method for making the same is described in this article, where a mixture of finely divided ceramic powder in an aqueous carrier fluid, combining with a dispersing agent, and alternatively, an organic binder when forming a slip is used.
Abstract: A uniform suspension of ceramic powder and method for making the same The suspension is prepared by mixing finely divided ceramic powder in an aqueous carrier fluid, combining with a dispersing agent, and alternatively, an organic binder when forming a slip The ceramic powder has an average particle size of about 05 micron or less and is present in the suspension in a loading of up to 30% by volume of the total solids in suspension A passivating agent is present in the carrier fluid in an amount of 05 to 5% by weight of the ceramic powder present for suspension and slip respectively After the addition of a dispersant, the suspension has a Bingham yield point of less than 230 dynes/cm 2 and an apparent viscosity of less than 3000 cps A green layer produced from the slip exhibits a pore size of less than 05 micron

01 Aug 1985TL;DR: In this article, a new aluminum grain refiner alloy with a controlled, effective content of "duplex" crystals is described, where duplex crystals are made by producing aluminides that contain boron in solution, and aging said aluminide in a manner to precipitate at least part of the BORON to form the duplex crystal.
Abstract: Disclosed is a new aluminum grain refiner alloy with a controlled, effective content of "duplex" crystals. The duplex crystals are made by (1) producing aluminides that contain boron in solution, and by (2) aging said aluminide in a manner to precipitate at least part of the boron to form the duplex crystals. The duplex crystals have been discovered to be extremely potent grain refining agents.

TL;DR: In this article, a method of abrading a tire tread compound to measure its irregular wear characteristics, including the steps of applying abrasion on a plurality of sample wheels in rotating engagement with a respective abrasive member, is described.
Abstract: A method of abrading a tire tread compound to measure its irregular wear characteristics, includes the steps of abrading each of a plurality of sample wheels in rotating engagement with a respective abrasive member. An outer layer of each sample wheel is made of a tire tread compound to be abraded. The velocity of the sample wheels relative to the velocity of the abrasive members defines a first slip value. Each sample wheel is abraded in rotating engagement with a plurality of abrasive members at the first slip value. The loss of the tire tread compound of each sample wheel at the first slip value is then measured. Each sample wheel is then abraded in rotating engagement with a plurality of respective abrasive members at a second slip value. The loss of the tire tread compound of each sample member at the second slip value is then measured. Each sample wheel is then abraded in rotating engagement with a plurality of respective abrasive members at a third slip value. The loss of the tire tread compound due to abrasion at the third slip value is then measured. The second slip value causes a higher level of abrasion severity than the first slip value. The third slip value in turn causes a higher level of abrasion severity than the second slip value. The irregular wear characteristics of the tire tread compound is measured based on the loss of the compound due to abrasion at each of the different slip values.

01 Mar 1982TL;DR: In this paper, an oxidation resilient nickel alloy containing chromium, tungsten and molybdenum is described, which provides a combination of engineering properties including a high degree of dynamic oxidation resistance and superior strength.
Abstract: Disclosed is an oxidation resilient nickel alloy containing chromium, tungsten and molybdenum in a critical relationship that provides a combination of engineering properties including a high degree of dynamic oxidation resistance and superior strength. The alloy is especially suited for service under severe conditions, for example, as components of gas turbine engines.
